25.01.2022 Sorry weve been a little quiet lately, been a tad busy in the lab, with work indoors, not so much to write about. Pavement investigations and material classification tests for the upcoming works at the Ballarat Goldfields tailings dam extension. The guys in Horsham are continuing works on the Western Highway for Miller Contractors, and are ramping up track and hardstand construction at the Murra Warra Wind Farm. Have started a couple of weeks ago at the Langi Kal Kal prison sewerage works, Taz and Owen have both spent a week out there keeping an eye the progress with Level 1 supervision. And some rain has now slowed progress a little.

24.01.2022 Position Vacant - Ballarat Laboratory We currently have a position available for a Technical Assistant, in our Ballarat laboratory, to carry out routine soils and concrete sampling and testing. The person needs to be self motivated, have a manual drivers license, be able to work early mornings and some Saturdays. Must have neat hand writing, be fit and be able to work alone or in a team environment. On the job training is provided and progression is subject to performance, ex...perience and some minor qualifications. This is a full time position for at least 12 months but more likely to be permanent for the right person. Please contact Malcolm on 0418 571 054 for further information.

24.01.2022 Concrete testing facility is coming along nicely. Putting the finishing touches on the internals, tanks are in place, tiling around the sink (thanks to the part time computer support officer Dale), flooring in the toilet, concrete machines are in place and been recalibrated.

23.01.2022 Agapanthus in full bloom, like they are everywhere in Ballarat. Work is back in full swing even after a bit of rain to settle the dust

22.01.2022 Looks like the guys from Ballarat office are having a good Xmas breakup, it's amazing what they will get up to when the boss is not there

21.01.2022 Hi Everyone, We have this ute for sale, it coming to the end of its lease, and has just been reduced in price. Give Owen or myself a call to discuss if youre interested.

21.01.2022 Well its on again, the go kart challenge. Taz is off to a flying start, blood pumping (and coming out his nose). But Joe was the winner again with a time of 18.40sec, followed by Taz and Owen at 18.65sec. Commendations go the 2 Old guys who came mid field.

20.01.2022 New storm player, trying on our new sponsored jumpers, go Jono

20.01.2022 Happy chappies this morning, no rain and concrete under the new car port going in

19.01.2022 Things are rough when youve got to drag the wife out to do pavement investigations. Owen and Melissa enjoying the sunshine on the Streatham - Woorndoo rd, in preparations for the Dundonnel Wind Farm, probably due to start at the end of this year. Thats the Salt Creek wind farm in the background, completed earlier this year.

18.01.2022 Owen Talbot doing the hard yards early this morning, testing of the backfill material around a wind tower foundation at Kiata Wind Farm. Expecting to be there all day today and tomorrow.

18.01.2022 Its all gone, now wheres the builders

15.01.2022 It's all gone, now where's the builders

14.01.2022 Family run business...... on a public holiday, 3 generations cleaning concrete cylinder moulds, ready for monday

14.01.2022 This is what happens when a large grader comes in contact with our plastic cylinders. 10 cylinders completely destroyed, Rommel is devastated.

14.01.2022 Hope the flies aren't the one's spreading the corona virus, or we'll be doomed

14.01.2022 Been a while since weve done any of these tests, sand replacement. Now only used when there is a suspicion of elevated background radiation, where our normal testing gauges are affected. Very labour intensive, slow and prone to environmental effects such the sun, wind and rain and also ground vibration. But good to get some training into our younger members of staff, even if it was a bit slippery getting into the trench.

13.01.2022 We have two Isuzu D-Max utes for sale, both are 4 x 2 and are surplus to our needs. Most jobs we go to require 4 x 4, so they are no longer needed. The first one is a 2012 SX model with A/C, bucket seats, has 170,000km. It also has some damage on the drivers door, front guard and door sill. This does not effect the performance at all, however it doesnt look the best. We have a quote to fix it of about $3000, however weve had it for a runabout vehicle so havent bothered get...ting it fixed. With a RWC we are asking $6,000. The other ute is a 2016 model, SX as well, with only 60,000km, sunraysia wheels and has no damage. With RWC we are asking $18,000. Both utes come with flashing amber lights, service history and rubber tray mats. Ring Malcolm on 0418 571 054 if you wish to discuss.

11.01.2022 Well, Roadlab is hiring again. We are looking for another person to perform dedicated duties for specific projects we are about to undertake. With commitments to the Stockyard Hill and Moorabool wind farms, we seeking a person to perform routine concrete sampling and other laboratory testing. We have developed a dynamic team of testers to suit clients needs and with the increasing work load has given rise for a need of additional staff.... Initially being trained on the job, the selected person will need to be able to work independently and within the Roadlab team. This position is full time and for a minimum of 12 months but possibly for up to 3 years or permanent for the right person, with full time staff entitlements. You will need to have sound mathematical and communication skills, computer knowledge, manual drivers licence, a white(construction) card and some civil construction experience would be an advantage. Some early mornings and Saturday work is required, at overtime rates. If you think you can handle it, or want further information, contact Malcolm on 0418 571 054.

11.01.2022 This is how we need to do it, we dig the holes and get someone else to fill them in. On the western highway just out of Beaufort. Yep, thats right fixing other peoples problems.

09.01.2022 Jono is a happy chappy, finally got some signage for his dedicated concrete testing unit

07.01.2022 Definitely not good, the boss is out testing concrete again.

07.01.2022 Well it's all finally happening, out with old and in with the new. The old prefab building is going to make way for the new dedicated concrete testing laboratory. The new office is twice the size, with easy access and space for storage.

06.01.2022 Well its all finally happening, out with old and in with the new. The old prefab building is going to make way for the new dedicated concrete testing laboratory. The new office is twice the size, with easy access and space for storage.

05.01.2022 Xmas breakup at Alfredton rec reserve, barefoot bowls, drinks and nibbles

05.01.2022 Enjoying our Christmas breakup

04.01.2022 More wind farms, this time at Mt. Gellibrand. We have a total 38 foundations, blindings and pedestals to test concrete on, over the next 2 months. Taz (the man) concrete tester extraordinaire will take on some of the load with Mike giving a helping hand. Good on you guys, remember a few early mornings is character building.

04.01.2022 Some new developments at Roadlab, we are about to pull down the old prefab building and shed, and replace them with a new dedicated concrete testing room. So in the meantime we bought in a container to store all the surplus equipment and tools. This will not affect the delivery of services however the resultant increase in area will greatly benefit the concrete testing functions and cylinder storage, Rommel is very happy.

03.01.2022 New fleet vehicle for Horsham, hope it stays this clean, hahaha

03.01.2022 At last some serious action on the new shed, Owen cant wait, hes already got the concrete curing tanks in place.

03.01.2022 Maroona Wind Farm, early start this morning for Owen, first of two towers being cast, 320+m3 of concrete, 2 pumps, 60 test cylinders and 1 tester, and he still had time to take a couple of snap shots. I hope hes not suffering from hayfever.
