23.01.2022 WARM UP TO GLOW UP Do you ever wonder why your constantly in pain or injured? Its most likely because after a 10 hour work day of sitting in the same position, you expect your body to perform new movements without pain or dysfunction. These movements could be as simple as going up and down the stairs, picking up a box from the floor or weight training at the gym. THIS is where warm-up is . Warm-Ups dont have to be done before workouts, they can be done before... bed or in the morning . It means exactly what it says, its a warm up of the bodys muscles and joints to allow you more movement with less restriction and pain Heres a great hip opener exercise I like to do before all my workouts and before bed. Its a great exercise to strengthen and stretch the groin area but also open up the mid back from all that sitting and laptop work . Heres how you do it: Place one leg out and the other bent on the floor. Place arms straight in front of you and push your hips back towards your heel, keeping your leg straight and flat on the ground. To target your mid back, lean your hips back towards your heels and slide your arm towards the outstretched leg - rotating through your mid back. IMPORTANT: Slow and controlled breathing throughout. Most people do - especially in this day and age and specifically during this less-than-serene time Look at Jess on the left compared to the right The right shows a more sound posture that can help minimise risk of tightness and repetitive stress injuries.... Did you know? Within 45 minutes of sitting your postural muscles can switch off. So, why not get into a habit of changing that. While sitting you can work on your posture. 08.01.2022 What is the main difference between a Physio and a Chiro you ask? Both can do soft tissue work, mobilize the body and use different tools to achieve desired results/ treat different conditions The main difference is some of our training at uni!... Physios are trained and equipped to work in a hospital setting Taking post-surgery patients through a rehab protocol designed to get patients to at least reach functioning level. This means that you may need to find another physio to further help you achieve certain goals after your basic rehab at the hospital (e.g back to peak physical health for sports). Chiros are trained to adjust BOTH spinal and peripheral joints throughout their 5 years of uni Adjustments can help regain mobility in restricted areas and decrease discomfort. Followed by rehab to get your body functioning better! How come my last physio/chiro treat so differently to my current physio/chiro? Ah, that’s easy!
