25.01.2022 WORK ON THE UPSTAIRS STUFF To be the healthy person you want to be don't just work on your physical welbeing work on your mental welbeing aswell. So many people get into fitness expecting that if they put on a bit of muscle on or lose some weight that they'll become better partners better friends more sociable and generally more popular and more accepted. And alot of those people find out that's not the case. Or become so obsessed with fitness that fitness becomes the tota...lity of their lives. Fitness is supposed to be a tool that helps put you in a better mindset to deal with stressful situations better. Not the solution to your stressful situations. You cannot lift away your problems. Just as you weren't able to eat them away before joining the gym. To truly become successful in the gym you need to be successful out of it. Fitness is so much mental as it is physical and to deny adaquite time to one aspect will be massively detrimental to both. See more

17.01.2022 Interesting post on running by one of the gurus of the fitness industry. Lyle McDonald IF you are a fairly light individual and IF you have relatively narrow hips and IF you start very slowly and IF you build up gradually and IF you have good running mechanics and IF you have proper shoes and IF you don't run every day and IF you don't run all the time on concrete and IF you have proper nutrition, you might survive as a runner. Count up the "if's" folks because that's the pro...blem. People decide to start running to get into shape or lose weight: They are unfit, overweight, do too much too soon, have shitty running mechanics, if they have wide hips (i.e. women more than men) it's worse, they wan to run daily daily, don't build up mileage gradually, run on concrete. And get broken. I saw a paper today where 33% of new runners dropped out...due to injury. Runners have THE HIGHEST incidence of stress fractures among endurance athletes. Yes, you can say that that's not running per se but human nature. To a point. Because do that shit in cycling and you do NOT get a stress fracture or other injury. It's the IMPACT nature of running that makes that utter clusterfuck of behaviors add up to a damaging activity. You can start cycling every day and, if your bike isn't set up right you might get an overuse injury. Or chafing. Same for most cardio activities. You don't get impact injuries doing the EFX every day. Or the spin bike. Or the rower. But add in impact and people get broken. There are endless other choices that would be better than running for *most* people. Runners, even moreso than other endurance athletes are also some of the most singularly addicted, poor nutrition athletic motherfuckers I've ever met. They will run through stress fractures, through hip injuries while starving themselves at the same time. You just don't see that shit in other endurance sports or activities for the most part. This is when most people should consider not running unless it is an inherent part of their sport. . Lyle McDonald
15.01.2022 THREE WAYS TO STAY HEALTHY For weight training have a deload week. After every programme usually about 6 weeks have a week where you decrease the weights. Drop them right back to maybe 20% of your max for the week. For food. Try inserting a diet break into your regime of maybe a day every two to three weeks. So a day where you don't count or have a strict diet. (Don't go nuts just don't focus on food intake)... For Mindset. Try doing something different. Maybe you go to a cafe you've never been to before maybe run or walk a different route. Sometimes the smallest of changes can make the biggest of differences. See more

14.01.2022 Daddys Diaries THE HAPPY SPACE I've been in a bit of a negative mindset over the last few weeks I work two jobs but lately one job has required more of my attention. That job can sometimes be negative. And unfortunately I've been taking that negativity home with me and it has affected myself and my family. Over the last few days I've searched frantically for answers to my negativity. The answers ranged from particular insidences at work to things not achieved at home to lack... of sleep. Each insidence just seemed to lead to another and another and another negative incidence. It wasn't until I walked into my second job for the first time in a few weeks. A job where everyone was happy and positive and working towards the same goal of helping people that instantly the energy changed the negativity started to diacipitate. I started to feel better. You see I told myself that my negativity was derived by thoughts and feelings that I was having and if I could resolve them myself in my mind or with my family then I would be happy again. And most of the time that works. Sometimes though it's not the thoughts and feelings I'm having but the thoughts and the feelings of the people around me and the energy they release that can cause that negativity. And sometimes spending even a small amount of time in a space where there's positive energy and thoughts is enough to help me re calibrate and re focus. As a dad there's a big push for me to share the load and learn to talk about whats causing me stress frustration and negativity. This is massively important. Sometimes I feel though that they're are things that I just cant find words to truly articulate how I'm feeling. So having that place of positivity where I don't have to try an articulate myself where I can just absorb the positive energy can be the difference between weather or not I have a great week or a massively frustrating one. And weather or not my family get to see the best of me or the me that not even I want to be around. See more
06.01.2022 If you want be successful with your goals you need to build a clear pathway to them. The reason people don't achieve goals is not always because the goals are unrealistic it's because the pathway to that goal isn't clear. It's like trying to find your keys in the dark you know they're there somewhere but you can't see them until you turn on a light.

01.01.2022 Sugar is not the problem. Overeating is the problem. Until we stop focusing on one aspect of our diets and starting focusing on our overall lifestyle we won't make the changes necessary to be healthy.
