25.01.2022 The local newsletter now has a website: https://mtpleasantbeat.squarespace.com/

25.01.2022 THIS WEEKEND! A great (and warm) night in with Leon, our Quizmaster! Great prizes! Raising money for community groups including the Street Party!

24.01.2022 6.30 for 7pm start. SM Hall, Mt Pleasant. A couple of tables left. Raising funds for our community. See you there.

22.01.2022 2019 is rapidly drawing to a close, and before you know it, Australia Day will be upon us. Our Australia Day breakfast is always a great start to the day, and it's also a time to acknowledge those within our community who go above and beyond.

22.01.2022 Please note that the notes from the AGM and the meeting following are now in the album.

21.01.2022 Please make the effort to come. When a survey was done in 2015, the demise of banking in Mt Pleasant was the number 1 issue.

19.01.2022 Dear All, You can tell were all getting back into the swing of things because the newsletter is getting bigger again. Cest la vie! It is now online:... http://mountpleasant.sa.au/latest-news/newsletter/ Much has been happening - including our Australia Day Breakfast - which we celebrated in gloriously mild summer weather. We changed a couple of things this year - moving the food closer to the hall - which is a lot easier when the sun is shining! Our award recipients this year were a diverse bunch - and we chose also to present a couple of special awards. Very well deserved. Congratulations also to Bob Myers, who was awarded an OAM in the Australia Day honours list. Weve also added the media release regarding the cut back of Accident and Emergency out of hours services to the Mt Pleasant Hospital. Something to keep an eye on. Paula scored a whole page this month - for very obvious reasons! The Market is celebrating 7 years of service this weekend, and we also say good-bye to a Market institution - Frank Baldasso from Kenton Valley - we will really miss Franks gentle smile and fantastic produce. There are also a couple of pics from the Twilight Market. Dont forget that the Tasting Australia event will be held again in April. The Womens TDU dashed through around Cricks Mill Road - and because of the horrible weather, the Mens Stage 2 TDU was re-routed through Mt Pleasant - missing Williamstown completely. Its a shame because they had really gone to town on the decorations, and we had no time to respond - except that Jan and John from Star Books and Bohemian Garden had some they prepared earlier! Great job! Anne and Rose from the Post Office are reminding people that although the ANZ services will no longer be offered at any post office, a HUGE list of lending institutions may still be accessed. Theres a Bushfire Ready information night which will be held at 6 on the 12th February at the MensShed. Worth a listen. YourSAy this month has a few things in there which were worth taking note of. There is also a call for feedback on school buses - which we didnt have room for - which could be of vital interest to our small schools. Petes Poem is again very topical - Heat Wave - and we have a new pic of Pete in his shiny, new uniform. The History Room has some good local books for sale at $20 (bargain!). We are now open again after the summer break and you can join us on Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4pm. Tired of Technology? The Mens shed is offering some sessions on IT - if you are battling - or even if you just need some advice - please get in touch and well see how we can help. The Mens Shed and RSL have some info to share. The Mens Shed is now also open on Mondays and Murray has added to the Walkers information. The Clubs section has notes from Community Association, Street Party, CWA & Red Cross - plus the details of the Glen Devon Garden Party with Sophie Thomson. There is also information about how to cook for shows. If any of you out there are just waiting for a nudge in the right direction, this free course could be for you! Bits & Bobs has heaps of stuff - and a column with info from the other markets in the area. Community Events are once again ramping up. There is no excuse for you to stay home watching reality TV - get out there and get into it! Dont forget WOMADelaide and the Fringe are imminent! Happy reading - and once again - please feel free to pass anything on and well try to add it to the newsletter. Wed like all articles and photos at least three days before the end of the month. Cheers, Sue and Paula

17.01.2022 The Mt Pleasant Community Association is proud to be associated with the Mt Pleasant Street Parade and Party. Come along and join in the fun with this iconic event that has been going for thirty years! Not to be missed.

17.01.2022 Note from MPCA meetings. Please check the date on the description.

16.01.2022 It has been a long time between drinks! In between the Quiz night and now, the History Group has put on the Cocktails and Carriages event and we've hosted another successful Street Party. Although we're having a little break at the moment, our Australia Day Group is preparing for the Australia Day breakfast, and our judges are getting ready to go through the entries for the Senior, Junior and Event Community Awards. Haven't put someone forward yet? Want to nominate an event? You still have time. There are many worthy people and events that shone during 2018 - let us know what you think. (2017 winners are listed in the MP Beat February edition)

12.01.2022 A great night out once again - and toasty warm! (Some of us remember the bad old days with no heating!) We were very lucky to have a great crowd rock up and support us so we reached our target. Thank you to Sam Schultz and her crowd (who held their Variety Quiz Night a few weeks ago), and to all those who donated prizes for the raffle and Quiz Prizes. And last, but no least - thank you to Quizmaster Leon and Mandy - who do all the hard work!

11.01.2022 Well deserved recognition for Sue, and for the CFS Cadets. Glad you're feeling up to it, Sue!.

09.01.2022 Happy Easter, everyone. Please let someone know if you need help. We are all in this together, and together we'll get through it. In the meantime, the website is up and running and we have started compiling a list of businesses still open or offering modified services. Let us know if you have any other info you would like us to add. This is still a work-in-progress, so please bear with us. Go to the Local Info COVID-19 menu and click on Quarantine Information https://www.mtpleasantbeat.org/quarantine-information

08.01.2022 Is there anyone local who would like to do the Face painting at the Street Party on 7th December (6pm to 8pm). Two people can be kept busy for that time, with minimal designs to help keep the line moving if you know of someone please tell them to contact Paula on ph. 0885682126

07.01.2022 Thank you to all who attended our Quiz Night on 29th. We had a great night and shared some wonderful prizes for both winners and raffle. Who knows.... we might do it again

06.01.2022 As per current restrictions, the MP Community Association and related bodies will not be meeting until this time has passed. This goes for The MP District Historical Research Group and The MP Street Party and Parade. The Australia Day group has already wrapped for the year.

06.01.2022 The next meeting of the MP Soldiers' Memorial Hall Volunteer Advisory Group is on Monday 25th February at 7.30pm in the hall. All are welcome. Please come and see how you can support your town hall.

06.01.2022 There will be a meeting this afternoon at 4.30pm. It's our first proper meeting for 2020, it will be short, and we will be dealing with items from Australia Day.

05.01.2022 Defib unit stolen from outside our Op Shop Wed night. Please return, you might cost someone their life. Just put it back please.Defib unit stolen from outside our Op Shop Wed night. Please return, you might cost someone their life. Just put it back please.

03.01.2022 The Community Association Australia Day group is holding a meeting at 7.30pm in the Hall on Monday night (6th), to organise the Australia Day brekky. We would love to have some new helpers!

02.01.2022 What a great day we had this year! Even though numbers were slightly down - probably because of the long weekend - it was again very well attended, and we all were able to enjoy some great catch ups and a fabulous breakfast! Special thanks must go to Ken Seiben and the wonderful On the Edge Choir. The choir has been operating for a few years now, and they are going from strength to strength, and sounding better than ever. They sang the anthem during the flag raising and then... gave us 'Song of Australia', 'Waltzing Matilda and 'I still Call Australia Home', ending with a medley of our favourite Aussie tunes. We are so lucky to have them. Congratulations to our award recipients - Community Service - Michael Seager Best Group - Red Cross Branch Best Group Recognition - Men's Shed Junior Group Recognition - CFS Cadets Best Event - 'Cells & Cellarbrations' - Steve & Chris Birrell Gold Award - Chris Birrell Gold Award Recognition - Sue Streich History Hero Award - Paula Bartsch Did you know that the Australia Day breakfast is run by the Community Association? Before that it was run by the Hall Committee - and stalwarts like Margaret and Michale Seager, Kath and Les Fisher & Barb and Bill Tapscott have always been on hand to make sure our community had a great morning. We receive no funding for this, but we are hoping that in the future we may be able to still provide the same big spread for a donation. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way, and thank you especially to our wonderful community for continuing to support us. See more

02.01.2022 Still on the lookout for one and possibly two face painters for the Street Party on December 7th 2019. Is there anyone local who does this? Would love to hear from someone interested... This is a popular activity on the night and one person last year was stretched even though designs were small and quick.
