22.01.2022 Gawler Environment Centre is looking for a new home, can you help? Our friends at Northern & Yorke Landscape Board are moving at the end of January 2021, which ...means that we will need to vacate our office at 43 High St, Gawler East. We need to find somewhere that has a small office, foyer display area, and preferably a space where we can conduct workshops for up to 20 people. We can only afford peppercorn rent, or can provide some services in-kind (like enlivening your space with cool workshops). We are having discussions about various options at the moment, but please hit us up with any suggestions you have! 21.01.2022 It has been lovely listening to our resident frogs. Unearthed one of these while moving salvage yard materials....happily relocated to our reed bed.

21.01.2022 We are expanding the nursery! We have a great range of native tubestock, hardy cottage garden plants, water plants, herbs and more. Our plant nursery is open as part of our recreate community project. Look for us nestled in our Community Share Garden, Wednesday to Friday 10am till 3pm and Saturday 10 till 2, corner of Phillis Street and Showground Rd in Mount Pleasant.

08.01.2022 Would you like to volunteer on southern Yorke Peninsula? Landscape Ecologist Grace Hodder is spending three weeks monitoring house mouse numbers on farmland and... could use a helping hand If you’ve got time to spare from 19 October onwards, please email [email protected]. This will be the third mouse survey conducted on farmland for the Marna Banggara project. It’s about capturing baseline data of mouse populations during the cropping season, so we can compare it with data once the project is in full swing. The idea is that by boosting the number of Barn Owls on southern Yorke Peninsula, we’ll help farmers reduce crop damage caused by mice and also lower baiting costs. It’s a good example of one of the special aspects of this project. Marna Banggara is about bringing locally-extinct species home and restoring the native bushland, but it’s even more than that. The project area is part of a working landscape, with a thriving agricultural community and travel industry and we hope that it will achieve flow-on benefits to farmers and the local economy. These photos show Grace doing another set of mouse surveys, but this time in remnant bushland. In this case she’s capturing baseline data of mouse numbers before we re-introduce Red-tailed Phascogales. The native Red-tailed Phascogale is a small carnivorous marsupial that will help regulate mouse numbers in place of cats and foxes. . . . #NLP #MarnaBanggara #biodiversity #agriculture #volunteer National Landcare Program FAUNA Research Alliance WWF-Australia Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife Conservation Volunteers Australia BirdLife Australia Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North Adelaide Zoo Monarto Safari Park Yorke Peninsula Yorke Peninsula Council Scientific Expedition Group

04.01.2022 Are you a Cudlee creek fire-affected landholder who collected plants at our native plant pickup day in June? We would greatly appreciate it if you could please ...return your plant trays and tubes. Volunteers from the Habitat Recovery Alliance are getting ready to grow more plants for you all next winter and we are hoping to reuse and recycle as many of the trays and tubes as possible. Please drop them off at either: Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board Woodside Office 33 Tiers Road, Woodside (behind the bike shop) Mount Pleasant Natural Resource Centre 132 Melrose Street, Mount Pleasant Thanks for your help with this!
