25.01.2022 We are expanding! Come and join us.......

25.01.2022 A great resource for our new mums!

22.01.2022 A message from our Clinical Director of Women’s Health, Dr Efe Obudu and Operations Director of Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent Health, Colleen White. We w...ould like to reassure our community that our Maternity Service is a safe place for women and their babies. Our service has not been affected by the Covid-19 investigation at Frankston Hospital and we remain open, ready to provide the best of care for our patients. Our doctors, midwives and support staff follow stringent infection prevention and control procedures in line with DHHS guidelines, and other expert maternity advice from Safer Care Victoria. Across our Pregnancy Clinics, Maternity Unit, Breastfeeding Service and Maternity Hospital in the Home program, we have a number of protocols in place to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. These include screening staff, patients and support people for Covid-19, introducing telehealth for check-ups that can be done virtually, minimising face-to-face time in pregnancy care and home visits, social distancing and wearing Personal Protective Equipment. We are working very hard to ensure we provide excellent and safe care. It is safe to come to Frankston Hospital and our team is doing everything we can to ensure women feel confident coming to pregnancy care appointments and to the Maternity Unit. It is extremely important that women who are concerned about their baby not moving well, contact the Maternity Unit and come in to get checked as soon as possible. If you have any queries relating to your care, please email [email protected].

18.01.2022 Our bodies are amazing!!

18.01.2022 http:// Cluster Feeding // It’s 7pm and you’ve got a baby who looks like this if you even dare try and take them off your breast and put them down to sleep. What’s ...wrong with your usually much more placid baby?!? Well I’ll save you the google search.... Nothing is wrong with your baby. Cluster feeding- also known (very unfairly) as the arsenic hours or witching hours- is NORMAL newborn baby behaviour. From the hours of roughly 5-10ish pm you’ll probably find that your baby stays put firmly on you either feeding or being cuddled, but wakes if you try to put them down. This is normal. So the simple solution here is to do what works- feeding and cuddling. Yes, it means you don’t get much else done in the evenings. Yes, it means the house might look like a bomb site (especially if you have other kids). Yes, it means it’s a bit tough to get time with your partner in those hours during the early few months of your babies life. But like all things related to babies- it doesn’t last long. Dinner doesn’t have to be perfect- my kids ate hotdogs tonight and I don’t even have a newborn in the house... Just do what you need to do to get through. So cuddle... and feed... and cuddle... and feed... and repeat this cycle until bub eventually drops off to sleep (it does happen eventually, I promise). If you need a break- try baby wearing, bathing with bub to help calm you both or getting someone else to hold them for a bit. #dremilyamos #gpibclc #breastfeedingmedicine #clusterfeeding #mindfulness #breastfeeding #mindfulmama #mindfulbabies #mindfulmotherhood

13.01.2022 Sharing these wise words from a friend! Everyone needs a little time to themselves and together. Finding the balance isn’t always easy but when the wheels fall off sometimes it’s helpful to stop and refresh.

13.01.2022 To all our wonderful Mum’s and Mum’s to be!

09.01.2022 Yay! Parenting sessions are back! Check out Mornington Peninsula shire council website for details of any that may be of interest.

07.01.2022 One in five mums will experience perinatal anxiety and / or depression. We also know that a significant number of non birth parents experience similar rates of ...mental illess. Left untreated, these illnesses can have long-lasting impacts on parents, partners, baby and the rest of the family. The key to getting help is being able to recognise that something is wrong and being brave enough to ask for help to ‘tell someone who cares’. That might be talking to your partner, child and family health nurse, doctor or PANDA’s National Helpline. Learn more about the signs and symptoms: https://bit.ly/3n3d5aK Image - An illustration of five mums. Four of the mums are coloured grey with just one shown in colour. 05.01.2022 Have you heard of cluster feeding? This refers to a period of time when your baby seems to want a lot of short feeds very close together. This is very normal.... Read our article at https://aba.asn.au/icantputthemdown #ClusterFeeding #Breastfeeding #NormalBabyBehaviour #FourthTrimester

05.01.2022 For all our private in public and shared care women. Well done Peninsula Health!

04.01.2022 An interesting and beneficial read for those breastfeeding little ones

03.01.2022 As of 24 July 2020, the position for maternity patients coming to The Bays remains unchanged. Partners or a support person are welcome to stay for the duration... of admission. We are however encouraging that partners or the support person minimise their movements in leaving and returning to the hospital as much as possible. We thank you for you cooperation during this time. Wethe community #caringforthepeninsula #thebayshealthcaregroup #lovewhereyoulive See more

01.01.2022 PANDA Week is here! For the last fifteen years PANDA has been using a week in November to raise awareness about perinatal mental illness and to reduce stigma so... those affected can seek help. The theme for PANDA Week 2020 is ‘Tell someone who cares’. Now more than ever it’s vital that the 100,000 expecting and new parents who are affected by perinatal mental illness every year know they’re not alone and can reach out for help. You can help our campaign by sharing important information about perinatal mental health with your networks. Explore our digital toolkit for more info: https://bit.ly/3eAzxoy If you can help us reach just one extra expecting or new parent with important information; or help one extra family know how they can seek support, then together, we will have made a real difference. #PANDAWeek2020 #tellsomeonewhocares Image - An illustration of a couple and their baby. There is text over the image that reads: tell someone who cares, PANDA Week 8 - 14 November, let's tackle perinatal anxiety and depression together.
