17.01.2022 A setup for a difficult job to hold. The round pin is the datum for the position of the holes.

15.01.2022 The parts in the middle of the picture are the customers samples. The hook end is not bent over far enough for the matching loop to be secure. With only verbal and sketchy instructions, the samples on the extreme left and right were made for the customers approval. The time taken to draw the modified sample, hand make blanks, make two form tools, set up the press and bend them, was achieved over 8 hours. The customer was presented with the samples for approval. Approval was given and an order placed.

07.01.2022 A few years ago I was asked if I could machine the casting shown in the first photo. The boss and the under side of the curved finger needed to be machined. I only have a standard centre lathe. I machined the casting using the four jaw chuck and the special combination turning tool that I designed, (last photo), in one setup. The turning of the boss was machined with the lathe running in reverse using the flat and angle section of the tool. Once that was completed, the lathe was running in forward motion and the long side of the tool was used to machine the under side of the curved finger. The final operation was to drill and tap the thread.

06.01.2022 This is a set up to cut 50 x 25 rhs to a compound angle of 32 deg horizontal by 11 deg vertical. The small fixture on the back jaw is held in place with two 8 mm screws. The cut length is calculated so that two equal gussets can be cut along the short diagonal. I will post a video of the process.

06.01.2022 I had a customer that needed a modification to the door handle. This is what I have done.

05.01.2022 A former work colleague and I were changing over the press from one size clip to another at the customers premises. We quality checked product to meet the required standards. We then ran the press and monitored the product to assure that the process was stable. The customer has confidence in the process and is happy to continue running production.
