24.01.2022 OK! Heres how it happened! Grandmother Hwang, master pickle maker of her village, passes down her master pickling and traditional fermented Korean sauce making teachings to mom, Jeong-Ja (Jenny) An. Traditionally, all cooking teachings are handed down from mother to daughter but no daughter, only two boys; so, mom breaks the old Korean taboo that if men enters the kitchen, he will lose his manhood and teaches George (my brother) and I the family fermenting and pickling secrets. Fast forward to 2016, uses the age old family pickling and fermenting secrets to create one of the most unique chili sauces.

15.01.2022 birth of the HSP Sauce... FOUR significant events of my life as I was growing up. I was there for the premier of Star Wars in 1977; I was there for the premier of Empire Strikes Back in 1980;... I was there for the premier of Return of the Jedi in 1983 (jig'd school 4 dis); I was there when Doner Kebab appeared in Sydney in 1984 It's funny how things have a habit of catching up. Back when Doner Kebab was first introduced, they didn't offer Chili sauce. They actually offered BBQ sauce and "Tomato Sauce!! (Yikes! Yes, you read it right! Tomato sauce! Dingo alert!). So, what's a chili loving Korean kid to do? the D-Kebab caravan had vegetable decorations and among them red chilies. I insisted them to put the chili used for decoration in my Kebab together with BBQ sauce. He thought I was weird but by the end of the day, I had eaten all their decoration chili. I would have been one of the first to add HOT CHILI to Doner Kebab in Sydney. Fast forward 2016, the HOLY TRINITY of BBQ Sauce + Chili + Garlic is finally bottled! www.mroigi.com.au

Still miss the times we jigged school to hang around Maccas on Pitt St. Sydney where I discovered gourmet food came in styrofoam containers (back then, Meccas burgers came in styrofoam packs). www.mroigi.com.au

06.01.2022 Here it is folks! The legend of the Original OiGi-Sauce! Welcome to Mr Oigi Food Compnay. Mr Oigis sauces are an original-taste chili sauce made from family old fermented chili recipe combined with the multicultural taste of Australia. Back when my family first came to Australia, we couldnt afford to go out to eat. But, I guess that was the same situation for most migrants who came to Australia during the 1970s. The most beautiful thing about not being able to afford to go ...to restaurants was that instead of going out, we would visit friends homes from other cultures and try their 'home cooked' meal. Every time we visited friends and neighbors, we would always take a dish of moms Korean cooking to exchange with friends family cooking and as a young kid who loved food, every bite of family friends cooking was an adventure of discovery. I hope you will feel the same when you taste my sauces. Mr Oigi sauces are made from many varieties of spices that shaped my childhood and I hope when you try my sauces, it too will take you back to the place where you discovered your first experience of sharing food and love. 05.01.2022 Photo: As you can see by the sign on the Caravan, Doner Kebab was so new back then, they had to explain what is was!! "...Meal of LAMB & VEAL WITH SPECIAL SALAD ROLLED IN BREAD" (Notice there was "NO CHICKEN" back those days!). Even then, I knew Doner Kebab was here to stay so I took a pic with mom waiting for our Kebab infront of Doner Kebab stand at Flemington market (Paddy's Market) in 1985! www.mroigi.com.au
