25.01.2022 Fantastic outcome on a Toyota Landcruiser 79 series we had in the shop for tuning recently. Running the decent yet under tuned OEM 4.5L V8 turbo diesel, the owner dropped their car in chasing the gains that these are renowned for when tuned to be all they can be. Running just over 150hp at the wheels in standard trim with exhaust and snorkel already fitted, tuning only saw that rise to no less than 210hp (around 60hp more than standard at peak and up to 75hp elsewhere in rev ...range) with as much as 80% more torque..! The improvements were so great that post dyno run after tuning there was an aroma of burnt rubber in the air with the rears struggling to hold traction on the rollers (run in RWD only) despite the weight of the beast above pressing down on them. 18.01.2022 One of the questions we get asked most commonly is "Do I need a built engine?" Its a tough question to answer directly as there are so many variables, in many cases where the planned mods fall within what we deem to be the safe limits of the stock engine internals, then there is generally no need. But to put it simply, a properly build engine greatly increases performance headroom and allows for us to take full advantage of other mods such as an upgraded turbo, larger inject...ors, exhaust, etc. In cases where planned mods will meet or exceed what we believe to be your cars safe limits, or in cases where the car is going to see frequent track time, we will generally advise some form of strengthening to your engines internals to maintain reliability. As an example, here is a comparison between a stock MY07 STi and one we recently built with forged rods, pistons and studs (semi-closed deck) and tuned with a Dominator 2.5 turbo. As you can see, this car is making just shy double the power and torque it did in its stock form, and still within safe limits for the engine in its built form. and this is still with stock heads and cams. 17.01.2022 Heres an interesting comparison showing the difference a dump pipe makes on a Mazda 3 MPS Gen.2 with a tune adjustment to suit. Boost now comes on 400RPM earlier and the fall off after 5500RPM is gone! Other mods shown on the "before" graph include 3 inch Cat Back Exhaust and Cold Air intake and the car was previously tuned by us.

17.01.2022 A freshen up on the tune for the new owner of this MY00 WRX resulted in a healthy 160KW at the hubs and 320NM of torque at 3500RPM! Not bad for a car with 225,000kms under its belt. The dyno graph shows this car compared to a stock MY00 WRX for comparison. the car is also fitted with a 3-inch turbo back exhaust and GFB boost controller.

Blouch Turbo Dominator 3 turbo with 10cm rear housing and internal gate (mounted in factory location).... Injector Dynamics 1300CC injectors with custom MRT rails, plumbing and twin pump surge tank. Larger capacity top mount intercooler. Standard gearbox with twin plate clutch. Factory ECU tuned by MRT using EcuTek Technologies Ltd - with per gear boost control. Flex fuel for on the fly changing between 98RON and E85 without map switching or tank flushing. The two graphs show the cars results on E85 vs. 98RON, and this car vs a stock MY08 STi for comparison.

03.01.2022 This MY06 WRX came in for a touch up to the previous tune after changing the exhaust. Other mods include a built EJ25 and VF34 Turbo running 21PSI. The numbers are a little down due to it being 44C in our dyno cell, and the car could certainly benefit from a larger turbo to maintain peak boost to the redline, but still a very quick car!

01.01.2022 This MY00 WRX came in with a few bolt-on mods including a VF48 turbo, silicone inlet, 3inch Turbo Back Exhaust and headers and an aftermarket bleed valve to keep the boost in check. We reconnected the factory boost control solenoid and tuned the cars factory ECU using EcuTek software. The dyno graphs show the final tune result vs. the car as received, as well as vs. a stock MY00 WRX for comparison. Just shy of 200KW at the hubs with 340NM of torque at a safe 17PSI.... This demonstrates that while not essential on older cars like the GC8 WRX, there are still some worthwhile benefits to a quality tune to accompany bolt on mods. Own an MY00 WRX?
