20.01.2022 "BALANCE" . . . . Put your hand up if you are guilty of having an "all or nothing" approach when it comes to diet and exercise? In other words you're either completely following a diet with immense restriction OR you're eating anything and everything you can find? .... you're either completely working out for hours a day 7 days a week OR you're vegeing out on the couch any spare moment you find? Results come with CONSISTENCY, not an all or nothing approach. That ...approach may definitely get you there a little sooner but as we all know deep down - it's unsustainable. Life happens and we need to be able to find ways to work holidays, injuries/sickness, events, work, long hours, commitments and social pressure into our healthy lifestyle plan. The more someone can integrate healthy eating and exercise into their week without implementing complete deprivation or fatigue, and the more consistent and prepared they are, the more sustainable the results will be! It's ok to enjoy a treat every now and then like the one above I shared with my brother and sister-in-law but it's how often we do this that matters.... so next time you're on a diet ask yourself "can I follow this way of life for the rest of my life?" ... and if the answer is no then reassess, plan, get prepared, get consistent and enjoy some balance... your body will thank you, your mind will thank you and you will thank you! Ingredients - 1/3 cup organic coconut oil - 1/4 cup pure maple syrup - 2 eggs - 3 overripe bananas, mashed - 1/4 cup almond milk - 1 tsp baking soda (bicarb) - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp salt - 1/2 tsp cinnamon - 50g plain flour - 2 cups (~250g) oats, processed into course flour texture Method 1. Preheat oven to 165 degrees Celsius 2. Place oats into food processor or blender and blend until a course flour 3. In a large bowl, whisk oil with maple syrup. Add eggs, whisk well. Then add bananas and milk and whisk. 4. Add baking soda, vanilla, salt and cinnamon, whisk to blend 5. Add oat flour and plain flour. Fold together using wooden spoon. 6.
