24.01.2022 NOT SURE IF SELF DEFENCE CLASSES ARE YOUR THING?? I get it. Some of the stories I hear (a LOT!!) from women include:... I'm scared that I'm not fit enough I might look ridiculous I’m too old I might get hurt And then there are all the really good ones we (especially MUMS!!) bring out: I’m really busy I don’t have time I can’t afford it I don’t really need it I’ll just send my daughter So let me answer some of these things real fast: *You WILL NEVER be fit enough - we never are. And you never will be until you start. *You WILL always look ridiculous (only Angelina Jolie looks good punching shit) but you will be having so much fun, you will not give a toss about how you look. *You are NOT getting any younger, so faffing about is not going to help (it’s now or never woman!) *And the only thing that is going to hurt are your lungs - from laughing and shouting. *You will ALWAYS be too busy to put yourself first (until you start making yourself a priority) *If you truly cannot afford it, we can support you *You don’t have to NEED it, you only have to WANT it - you are worth the things you want. Seriously. *And finally - your daughter needs to SEE how it is done. By you. She needs to see you being brave, showing up, pushing your boundaries, making yourself a priority, being OK with looking ridiculous (a ridiculous bad ass), and trying something just because you are curious. Because you are worth it... Enrolling now for Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Mullumbimby and The Goad Coast. www.getupgirl.com.au
23.01.2022 If you speak to her, what would she say?
21.01.2022 COURAGE... Can I be brave enough to choose myself? Can I stand for myself, when no one else will? Can I love myself in totality, without judgement? Can I hold myself accountable?... Can I challenge myself to meet my own boundaries? Can I be still in the face of my deepest fear? Can I pause, long enough, to feel all that I am? Can I wake today and live this day as if it were my last? See more
14.01.2022 As trauma survivors, we are not always easy to love. It takes a lot to climb over our walls, make it past our defences, tunnel to our hearts... But for those who are willing, it's always worth it... Huge gratitude to the patient people in my life who love me so fiercely..
13.01.2022 IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT HITTING STUFF I have the absolute joy of watching something so unique, and so transformational, occur, every single time I teach a Get Up Girl class. It does not matter if the girl is 6 or the woman in 66, I see the same thing time and again. Power Pride... Passion Partnership Purpose Potential And. joy. Joy borne of being alive in their body Joy at feeling safe in their body Joy in the permission to express rage, and power Joy in the discovery of strength And the joy of witnessing and supporting other women to do the same. From one of our high school participants I am a secondary school teacher and a Year Advisor and I was fortunate enough to attend the Get Up Girl sessions with my students. I was astounded by the personal growth that I witnessed with each and every one of the girls over the course of just 4 weeks. The program helped these young women grow in confidence, strength, maturity, understanding of themselves and each other, self-esteem, honesty, integrity the list goes on. It is one thing for us as educators and mentors to tell young women that that are strong, but within this program they were able to physically feel and be strong through self-defense and voice work. The program required the girls to step outside of their comfort zone, be courageous, be brave and be vulnerable among their peers. Lily was professional, caring and nurturing to each and every participant and she built a great rapport with the girls. She created an environment when each young woman felt safe, known, valued and supported. When the program had finished they begged for it to keep going! If my words aren’t a testament, then that truly is. Classes enrolling now for term one (starting next week!) in both Bello and Coffs. www.getupgirl.com.au

05.01.2022 Facing one of my deepest fears, one breath at a time. Sometimes our past requires us to dive in, take a stand and claim what was taken from us. My breath was taken from me at one time in my life, and tonight, in my first freediving session, held safe by my beautiful partner, I took back my breath from my fear. ... May you find the space, the safety, the time, the support and the grace to meet your fear, one breath at a time. #onebreathatatime #giveagirlavoice
