17.01.2022 Dear Cadets, Parents & Caregivers, In 2009, Mt Sugarloaf Cadet Division received a new lease of life when Scott Roach decided to become our Superintendent. In these 11 years, MSCD saw its management team form and grow, driving the division to success as cadets were recruited and the organisation brought into the spotlight of the community. It didn’t take long for Mt Sugarloaf Cadets to gain a reputation, a reputation for being one of the most active and strongest cadet divisi...ons in the area. With a division of 25-30 active cadets aged between 8-18 years of age,we conquered First Aid Competitions, attended and assisted various duties, organised duties such as V8 Supercars, held fun games nights and dress ups, interviewed for the paper, demonstrated first aid skills at public events, attended first aid courses and dutifully attended meeting nights week after week. Not to mention, the long-term friendships that were made. The Management Team are extremely proud of our cadets and the effort and enthusiasm that they put in week after week. Over the years, we have loved watching them grow and develop their confidence and are constantly amazed at the compassion that they show members of the public. Unfortunately, due to varying personal and family commitments, many of us are finding it difficult to commit 100% to MSCD. We have therefore made the heartbreaking decision to make 2020 the final year of Mt Sugarloaf Cadet Division. This decision has not been made lightly and has been extremely hard for us to come to terms with, as we see MSCD as a family. We are still in the process of finalising our transition into a mobile adult only division, so we can continue to assist in duties where we can; hence, you will probably still see us around! We would really love for our cadets to consider transferring to another local division, to keep mastering their first aid skills, make friends and have fun. We are happy to come along with you and introduce you to either of our local divisions. We have worked quite closely with both of these divisions for a number of years and feel that they will look after our cadets. The local divisions are: Wallsend Cadet Division Meets: 6:30-8:30 pm Thursday nights Address: Minmi Community Hall, 96 Woolford Street, Minmi. Contact: John Comyns: 0418 566 889 Lake Macquarie Cadet Division Meets: 6:30-8:30pm Monday nights Address: St John Hall, James Street Warners Bay Contact: Damien Wardrope: 0408 475 604 We would finally like to say a huge thank you, to firstly our cadets who constantly amaze us with their dedication and hard work to our families and community members who have stood by us, supported us and assisted us. THANK YOU!! We would not have been able to run so smoothly and successfully, for so many years without everyone’s help. Please feel free to keep in touch, we would love to hear how everyone gets on and progresses in the future. Yours Sincerely, Mt Sugarloaf Cadet Management Team.
