08.01.2022 I need your assistance please. If anyone catches a Redfin perch in the Macquarie area with red spots or lesions on it, could you please bag it up with some ice ...(don't freeze) and drop it into the DPI office (cnr of Cobra & Hampden Streets, Dubbo) so we can courier it down to the biosecurity lab and get an analysis done. It may be nothing serious, but we want to make sure, so we would appreciate your help. Please share - many thanks. Photo credit: Burrendong Classic 2017 Note: Just to clarify, this fish was caught on the weekend at Burrendong Dam, but there wasn’t a chance to take a sample. We’re hoping someone might send us a fresh one to test. It’s NOT carp herpes virus: that only affects carp, causes different symptoms in carp and hasn't been released in Australia. If you'd like some more info on the carp virus, check out the National Carp Control Plan https://www.facebook.com/auscarpplan/ Thanks everyone for your interest! I'll keep you all posted. UPDATE - A big thank you to Mark Austin who just dropped in a redfin that he caught at Burrendong with the condition. The sample will be sent off to the lab for analysis - I'll let you know what the findings are. Thank you again for your interest.
