25.01.2022 Every year the biggest and most important Muay Thai event in Australian Muay Thai is held "Muay Thai Australian National Championships" this year it was held in... Queensland hosted together with MTQ and MTA. This is an event where the best Muay Thai fighters all over Australia come together to compete in different age and weight divisions for their chance to represent Australia at the IFMA World Games! This is the biggest Muay Thai Competition in the world where every year about 100 different countries have the opportunity to take part in. We would like to congratulate the following juniors in Queensland who won Gold medals in the 2018 Muay Thai Australia National Championships who will fly to Bangkok, Thailand to represent Australia at the IFMA world games in August! 24.01.2022 MTA NATIONAL VIRTUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MTA will be hosting the first ever National Virtual Championship, this event is designed to create opportunity to stay connec...ted through Muaythai when all our competitions have had to be postponed. The event is open to all juniors and adults. There are 4 categories that you can enter the Wai Kru, Shadow Box, Max Fit and Aero FIT. The choice is yours you can enter 1,2,3 or all 4 events. SHADOW BOX: Athletes will demonstrate their skill over 3 rounds showcasing their technique in both defense and offence. Criteria includes speed, defense, and countering techniques. MAX FIT: Competitors will perform a set criterion over 3 rounds focusing on athletes strength, power, repetitions, and stamina. WAI KRU: As many know the Wai Kru is the traditional Thai ritual performed in the ring before an athlete competes, It is demonstrated to show respect and gratitude from athlete to coach. Competitors will be judged on the criteria outlined in the handbook. AERO FIT: This final virtual competition highlights the athletes coordination, creativity and choreography. Routines must consist of a minimum of two team members in any gender combination, and performed to music. Athletes are to be demonstrating fitness components in a maximum 3 min video submission. 19.01.2022 nationals, did you know #4 Catching the opponents leg and pushing forwards more than two (2) steps without using any weapons is a foul. The referee shall order the Athlete to stop and shall give him caution. After two cautions, the referee shall deduct a point from the fouler.

16.01.2022 MTA Nationals for 2020 was a overwhelming success. There is a lot of amazing photos and videos from the event. Keep them circulating and the energy going. We ha...d 155 fights in 3 days with 220 entrants. Matching 85 bouts on day 1 to do everything we could to get everyone a bout. Thank you to the athletes, the officials, the trainers, the clubs and every volunteer and supporter of the event. It is Muaythai in a sporting environment and a great pathway to IFMA World Championships, National Team selection and the big shows Australia wide. The atmosphere, camaraderie, support and team work was outstanding. An event put together by volunteers and all money going back into the sport to assist juniors and seniors develop their Muaythai to more opportunity internationally. Look out for the 2021 championships - dates will be confirmed SOON! We are aiming to have it this year! Australian team announcements will be next. Everyone eligible will be emailed a selection form to send in; so keep checking your emails over the next few weeks. It was great to have New Zealand at the event and we hope to keep them coming back. We had 75 MTA Clubs and we want more next time. It is an amazing opportunity for a weekend of Muaythai, making friends and great fights. EXCITING NEWS - Look out for a new format, new break ups for divisions and more A-class bouts combined with the best place for novices and children to get solid competition experience. 14.01.2022 Today we lost a Muaythai legend Alan Bell, our condolences go out to his family at this sad time. Al played a huge part in QLD Muaythai as a head ref and judge for many years travelling all over Queensland, putting so much time into making the sport what it is today. Al was not only mentor but a friend to so many of us. He had so much passion for the sport, and a great sense of humour to go with it! You will be missed by all, and hold a special place in all of our hearts. ... R.I.P Alan Bell

Then Muay Thai took over & been doing it ever since. ... I started HSF in 2004. Favourite memory would be walking to the ring with my son for my last fight in 2018 on Quandamooka Cup. Sunshine Coast Thaiboxing Centre Year I started Muaythai: I think it was around 1988 and at that stage it was Kickboxing and am very proud to be part of a group that introduced Muaythai to Australia with Stephan Fox and Zen Do Kai . What made you decide to open a Muaythai gym?: I was a probationary 4 Dan in Zen Do Kai and along with my Brother Roger had Zen Do Kai clubs from Gympie to Brisbane and was looking for another challenge and what started as a hobby but soon turn full time and we started as Warriors Kickboxing before opening SCTBC in 1994. Favourite memory: I have so many favorite memorys from Muaythai number one would be Warren Elson winning the WMC World Title in 1999 in Thailand . Fun fact about yourself: Bribe my fighters to buy Allens Chicos lollys every fight show when wrapping hands . Keep nominating your trainers they could be next!

Dan Bell from The Ironfist Gym is taking over the Qld Presidency from Richard Walsh, and James Jarvie from The Fight Centre is taking over from Marcus Burgess, as QLD Secretary General.
