24.01.2022 PPSP stands with those seafarers who have sacrificed time with their families to help ensure the economic survival of global trade during the COVID-19 pandemic.... There are over 150,000 seafarers trapped at sea by the COVID-19 shutdown and the time for these crew to return home has well and truly past. Ships around the world will be sounding their horns at 12:00 LT on Wednesday the 8th of July to bring attention to this issue. We appreciate your sacrifice and hope to bring resolution through awareness to your overdue transfer home. Please show your support by liking and sharing this important event. Thankyou.

21.01.2022 These photos tell a story. Upon arrival at DP World security, we were held up for 15 mins. Pilot was on board & gangway was drawn up. Quick thinking, the 2nd Officer quickly lowered a bucket for us to deliver his mobile. It was a tense situation but job done. He was very appreciative because his mobile was broken. Now he can connect with his family. Happy ending! . Thank you for connecting with us ... . Join the family @mission_to_seafarers_sydney for more . 21.01.2022 Without shore-based assistance, many crews are having to take medical treatments into their own hands. 167 days at sea is well below average for most crews: many have been at sea for more than a year now.

21.01.2022 I think I will commit suicide: Cargo ship workers have been trapped at sea for months because of COVID-19, banned from ports, and predict anarchy if things dont change https://www.businessinsider.com.au/cargo-ship-workers-trapp

20.01.2022 It is with great rejoicing and thanksgiving that we would like to announce to you that Sydney City Council after consultation with TfNSW (Transport NSW) last week had confirmed and approved our proposal or request for a designated parking area for our Mission buses, right in front of our Mission entrance. Please look at the attached Parking Plan from Council and the email below. This is one of the greatest breakthrough during the lockdown. Thank you for your prayers. ... Let’s offer our thanksgiving offering to our Heavenly Father for answering our prayers and for His favour upon us! Take care and stay safe!

20.01.2022 Many people see SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING as essential to their overall well-being. As research continues to grow in this area, it is the view of Psychodoodles that it is a matter of time when mainstream psychology sees spirituality as essential for total well-being. Acknowledging the Christian heritage of The Mission to Seafarers, this Psychodoodle shows that spiritual well-being is helped by praying, reading Scripture, meditating, fellowshipping, and ministering to one another a...nd those in need. . . 15.01.2022 We will be bowing our heads at 11.00am to remember those who fought so bravely for us both on land and at sea. The Merchant Mariners are dear to our hearts. Th...ey need no dirge, for time and tide fills all things, with tribute unto them. The warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, the comforting arm of night, the generous soul of nature and the power of a seabird’s flight. Blow golden trumpets blow, mournfully for all the golden youth and shattered dreams that lie where God has lain his quiet dead for all the world to see, upon an alien ocean bed. (Epitaph for a merchant seaman, written by one of their own).

12.01.2022 PSYCHOLOGICAL FITNESS can start with something as simple as learning how to breathe properly. Sometimes we are so busy going from one chore to another from morning to night that we forget to take time to breathe, I mean breathe properly. Gently take a deep breath until you feel your lungs are full (notice your chest and stomach rise as you do this), then gently breathe out all the air from your lungs until it has all gone out of you. Practise taking one or two deep breaths as soon as you get out of bed in the morning, and as you go from one task to another throughout the day. The more pressured and stressed your day, the more you will benefit from doing this simple exercise. Happy breathing!

10.01.2022 Sea Sunday 2020 Sea Sunday is the day which many Christian Churches set aside to remember and pray for seafarers and their families and give thanks for their lives and work. It is officially held on the second Sunday in July, though there is significant flexibility to accommodate other local celebrations. Sea Sunday is a chance for all our supporters to celebrate seafarers together and raise money to support our vital work. Your church can join with others from around the wo...rld to pray, celebrate and fundraise for seafarers from London to Lagos, Manila to Melbourne. However, you dont have to be a church group to celebrate Sea Sunday you can fundraise through your school, community group, family or group of friends. Join us here on 12th July 2020 for our celebration of Sea Sunday. Rev Tay is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. 09.01.2022 19th century ships transporting hundreds of Chinese coolies ready to work hard and make their "fortune" in Nanyang. Rare photographs of such a ship bringing coolies from Xiamen in Fujian, China. An authentic visual record of Chinese coolies a century ago and a powerful throwback to that period. This photo shows a boat arriving with coolies, circa 1900. The coolies step out of the hold and stand on deck for a photograph taken by the German boat owner. This is a rare and valuable image because there are generally no photographs of early Chinese coolies. Coloured using modern image-processing technology, the photograph takes us right back to that boat deck a century ago, giving us a hint of how these coolies must have looked and felt upon arriving at their destination.

08.01.2022 It is useful to think of psychological well-being as PSYCHOLOGICAL FITNESS. Like physical fitness it is good to check in from time to time that our psychological fitness is doing okay. Ask yourself How am I feeling? If you are continuously feeling unhappy for at least two weeks, consider seeing your doctor, talking to someone you know who is caring, or reach out to your chaplain at The Mission to Seafarers. . . 07.01.2022 Getting excited about the easing of Covid19 restrictions? Our seafarers are too! After some of them spending 9 months on board and then the last three months r...estricted to their ship its easy to understand why. Theyre missing us Its why wonderful organisations like Patrick Terminals have helped Mission to Seafarers come to the rescue. Matt Hollamby and his fantastic team at Patrick Terminals Brisbane have opened their hearts and collectively pitched in and donated to our "care package" campaign. A massive thank you to you all for making this happen for our seafarers!
