25.01.2022 Local @rothfamilyorchard cherry wood will be back at the markets next Saturday. Great chance to pickup some chips to play with in bbqs and smokers. This versatile wood produces a sweet, light smoke, never overpowering, so works perfectly with all meats, from beef and pork to fish and chicken. It produces a sweet, delicate flavour in the finished dish. They also have some beautiful (and gold award-winning!) preserved cherry delights for cheese boards and sweet dishes alike. 25.01.2022 For the perfect seasonal cocktail addition, pop into the markets on Saturday morning and pickup some local Rangpur Limes. Harvested this week straight from Merri of @mudgeesoaps fruit trees’. A thin-skinned juicy citrus combining citron, mandarin and lemon, Merri uses them in her famous handcrafted soaps & are perfect in recipes in place of lemon and lime. But where the Rangpur really shines is in a cocktail - added as a garnish or syrup to a simple gin and tonic or for som...ething fancier for that soirée on Saturday night, try this Rangpur Lime Margarita recipe : 1 fresh common lime wedge or water for rimming glass + 1 slice halved for garnish - Coarse salt - Ice to serve - 45ml tequila - 30ml fresh Rangpur lime juice - 30ml Cointreau - 3 or 4 Candied Rangpur Lime Rounds & syrup Wet the rim of a glass with the lime wedge and dip in salt to coat. Fill glass with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, liqueur, and syrup and stir. Place 3-4 candied lime rounds on a small wooden skewer. Garnish cocktail with skewer & lime halves. Lime Rounds 1 cup sugar - 1 cup water - 2 small Rangpur limes thinly sliced crosswise Bring sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add slices and simmer until translucent. Remove from heat & transfer slices to a wire rack set on a baking sheet. Reserve syrup. Let slices dry & cool before using.
