22.01.2022 Nina Marni (Hello) Today we made Rainbow Serpants to acknowledge and respect the traditional land owners of our land, the Kaurna people. In Aboriginal Dreamtime stories, the Rainbow Snake was one of the creatures who shaped the earth and then inhabited various waterholes. When a rainbow is seen in the sky, it is described as the Rainbow snake travelling to a new waterhole after a storm disturbs him. As we are teaching the children about caring for country, we felt this was a fitting activity.

20.01.2022 This week we made some very special miniature dolls to add to our doll house! We took photos of all of our kindy friends and teachers and turned them into a great play experience. We used blocks to tape the photos onto and each decided on a shape and colour. This has proven to be a new favourite dramatic play in our room. This activity actively contributes to the development of confident self-identities, reciprocal relationships and also a sense of inclusion and community Today we went on imaginary holidays, relaxed on the couch in the sun and had many interesting conversations.

14.01.2022 This morning, Melissa set up a game for the children to practise their kicking, while seeing if they know their shapes. Each of the blocks had shapes stuck to them; square, star, triangle, circle or rectangle. Each child having a turn would call out a shape, kick the ball and aim to hit the block down. Most of the children enjoyed it!

04.01.2022 VIRAL GASTRO OUTBREAKS ON THE RISE Parents are being urged not to send their kids to childcare when sick after a spike in viral gastroenteritis in centres acros...s the state. The Department for Health and Wellbeing’s Communicable Disease Control Branch (CDCB) noted at least 17 outbreaks of gastro in childcare centres last month, compared to just four in November. Authorities are encouraging parents and children to practice good hand hygiene in a bid to curb the outbreaks. It spreads easily from person-to-person via hands, objects, surfaces or food that has been contaminated by faeces or vomit, acting Director Dr Doug Shaw said. Children especially should not return to childcare until they are feeling better and they have not had any diarrhoea or vomiting for at least 48 hours.
