24.01.2022 As a follow up from the earlier post about the AIA Awards on Saturday night a few photos of the Willunga Main Street project. Thanks to #WAX design for a great collaboration. This is a project that investigates a nexus between urban design and heritage and uses story-telling as the main design driver. Awarded the Gavin Walkely Award for Urban Design and also received the Architecture Award in the Heritage category

19.01.2022 Kevin McCloud MBE, writer, designer and Grand Designs presenter has just signed on to Save Shed 26. While missing the deadline for our emergency open letter, p...ublished today in InDaily, tonight he sent us this with a note to say he signs on to the letter and the cause. Thanks Kevin. We hope the SA Government is listening, Steven Marshall and David Speirs MP. The conservation of historic buildings is about our industrial and commercial past as much as it is about churches and twiddly columns. We cant let the quieter, more modest buildings be swept away when theyre so much a part of who we are and where weve come from. And their contribution to the uniqueness of place is almost beyond measure and something you cant reproduce with the new-fangled. To clean up our past by removing its artefacts is to Bowdlerise it to a point where our story no longer makes sense and we become aimless. See all the other signatories here: https://indaily.com.au///an-open-letter-regarding-shed-26/

14.01.2022 We endorse Australias leading architects signing up to Architects Declare Australia. This is a movement to highlight the immediate global challenge of climate ...change and biodiversity reduction. As the peak body for Australias architectural profession, we want to support the commitment firms are making to embed carbon reduction in supply chains and procurement. We are developing our own action plan to support this movement looking at reducing the Institutes operational carbon footprint and making sure sustainability is embedded in our education, advocacy and awards programs. National President, Prof Helen Lochhead affirmed, The climate crisis is the critical challenge of our times. Together with our clients, we can develop and design buildings, cities and infrastructure that reset the paradigm. We can strengthen our work practices to create architecture and urbanism that has a more positive impact on the world around us. Importantly, as architects, we have a duty of care to the entire community, acknowledged in our code of conduct. We want to make our homes, our cities, and our world better. We know this can be done through smart design and improved systems. We have the technology and the systems to help in this challenge. Now we need to act. Join the movement at https://au.architectsdeclare.com and read more at https://wp.architecture.com.au//the-institute-endorses-arc #architects #architectsdeclare_au #climateaction

09.01.2022 Our recent collaboration with Aspect Studios on the Felixstow Reserve is open. Part of a broader suite of projects related to water management, it integrates infrastructure management with a strong cultural narrative. We designed a series of pavilions and shelters that are slowly becoming rooted to the ground (literally). The project is in the AILA awards programme and voting in the Peoples Choice is open. Have a look. https://aila.awardsplatform.com/entry/vote/BOeoQqvk
