Lilydale ...CFA was called to a structure fire last night at 9:58pm. On arrival crews were confronted with a deep fat fryer fire, the amazing staff had remained calm and already used a fire blanket to contain the fire and shut off the overhead extraction fans which helped prevent the spread of the fire into the roof. Fire blankets can also be a great safety feature for home kitchens as well. A fire blanket should be stored within easy reach of the kitchen but away from the cooking area.
