19.01.2022 A very happy 30th Birthday to Robert Snars. Regulars to the Pavilion may have seen him in past productions such as Anne of Green Gables, Treasure Island, The Games Afoot, The Servant of Two Masters, Boeing Boeing, and most recently the one production of 2020 we were able to stage, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in which he appeared as The Butler. We wish you every happiness and success in the future and look forward to seeing you on stage again soon.

18.01.2022 COMMUNITY NOTICE Today is the 5th annual Jersey Day. It’s been a huge movement to raise awareness about organ donation and it is succeeding. According to donatelife, last year there were 221, 641 new registrations on the Australian Organ Donation Register. If you want to read more about Nathan Gremmo’s Legacy and why it’s important to talk about organ donation please read the following https://hillstohawkesbury.com.au/jersey-day-shout-out/ Thanks to our friend and CHP supporter, Bev Jordan, from Hills to Hawkesbury magazine for the shout out. I'll be wearing my Dragons jersey today. Which jersey will you be wearing? Tag us in your pics.

17.01.2022 Hello! Members are back at The Pavilion! Woo hoo This is our first play reading since COVID-19. Hosted by Bernard Teuben the group featuring Penny, Gina, Ben, Jason and Michelle read War of the Worlds. Socially distanced of course it was wonderful to just be there.

17.01.2022 Saturday 15 August 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of VP Day. Many members and patrons of Castle Hill Players served in the WWII campaign and saw active service in the Pacific region and beyond. There will be several commemorative ceremonies held, although with Covid restrictions the public is unable to participate. We take this opportunity to salute our service personnel and thank them for their commitment, bravery, and courage. Lest We Forget.

17.01.2022 The martians are definitely attacking! Please note the correct time for today's performance is 4.30pm, I repeat 4.30pm. That is all.

16.01.2022 Today's birthday girl is Michelle Masefield! A very happy birthday to a wonderful actor and friend to all at The Pavilion. Theatre goers will well remember Michelle in several appearances on our stage - the powerfully emotional Women of Lockerbie and The Book of Everything, with her most recent performance being the delightfully bawdy final play of 2019, Nell Gwynn. The girl sure plays a mean recorder! Have a very happy birthday Michelle, and may the year ahead be full of lovely surprises, good health and theatre!

14.01.2022 Our Friday Flashback features two likely looking lads from our 2015 production of The Fall of the House of Usher. Director, Paul Sztelma, brought together some of CHP's finest to create a somewhat unsettling, disturbing but immensely enthralling rendition of Edgar Allan Poe's Gothic short story featuring themes of madness, family, isolation, and metaphysical identities. The time is getting ever closer to us reopening the Pavilion and welcoming our patrons through the doors. Stay tuned for updates and info. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

14.01.2022 It's another exciting day at The Pavilion Theatre - tonight is the first rehearsal for Things I Know to be True (Mk II)! That's right, following the opening of our theatre with outstanding performances of War of the Worlds, we are now preparing for our 2021 Season. First cab off the rank is this amazing Australian drama by Andrew Bovell, directed by Carol Wimmer which was within one week of opening when COVID struck. The sense of deja vu is not lost on cast and crew and we wish them well as they return to the stage and reunite the Price family. Photo shows Kate Jirelle as Rosie and Stephen Snars as Bob (Photo - Chris Lundie) Visit our website www.paviliontheatre.org.au for full details of the 2021 Season

13.01.2022 Remember that play when the creepy woman appeared from under the stage and made the first row scream? Today's look back into the not-too-distant past is 2010's "The Woman in Black" with Paul Cashman, Peter Rhodes and a surprise appearance from Leigh Scanlon as the titular woman. Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from Susan Hill's novel and directed by Paul Sztelma.

13.01.2022 A look back 10 years ago to "And Then There Were None" - directed by Annette van Roden. In this album: Paul Cashman, Sara Jane Kelly, Craig Hutchinson, Darrell Hoffman, Rickard Roach, Stephen Snars, Errol Henderson, Faith Jessel, Daniel Boole, Karen Miller and Ron Parnell.

11.01.2022 It's on again tonight! War of the Worlds starts at 7.30pm. Feels so good to be back. Members and subscribers alike are celebrating!

10.01.2022 We couldn't let the day go by without an acknowledgement of Gavin Woodford's 50th Birthday. Over the years Gav has provided CHP with some wonderful promotional footage which has featured on our FB page - interviews with directors and designers, rehearsal insights, behind the scenes sneaky peaks and some great footage of the life and times of many of our members. During these COVID times Gavin recently felt led to record a number of members and friends reciting Rudyard Kipling's If. A timely reminder that life can be challenging, we know not what the future holds but being strong and true will get you through. We wish Gavin a very happy birthday and a wonderful year ahead, full of surprises and fulfillment. You can listen to If by going to this link. https://www.facebook.com/gavin.woodford.52/videos/1610180955814058

09.01.2022 Another funky trip back in time - to 2010's "Butterflies are Free". Directed by Faith Jessel, starring Jessica Patterson, Gavin Jamieson, Elizabeth Gilbert and Todd Beilby.

09.01.2022 Right where we belong, and very proud of it!

09.01.2022 A very productive few hours gardening for members Steven Rowe and Annette Snars and Admin. Asst Linda Klopf. The Green Room Garden has been razed with the intention of a refresh under the guidance of resident horticulturalist, Liz Houchin. Yes it was hot and thirsty work but we all agreed it was worthwhile and we now look forward to the fun part, planting!

08.01.2022 It's happening! Rehearsals are underway at last for our first production of the 2021 Season, Things I Know to be True by Andrew Bovell, directed by Carol Wimmer. The Price family of Hallett Cove will win your heart as they go through the trials and tribulations of family life - you may even recognise a little bit of yourself. Our photos, not up to Chris Lundie standard I'm sorry, but will have to do for now show the Prices in their garden - there's Ben (Ben Freeman), Mark (Adam Garden), Rosie (Kate Jirelle), Pippa (Vivienne Rodda), Fran (Annette van Roden) and Bob (Stephen Snars) and then we have our crew Carol Wimmer, Steven Wimmer, Donna Sim and Carolyn Smalls. One big happy family really!

08.01.2022 We're off and running with our media coverage for our highly anticipated Season 2021. There'll be plenty more info to come, but here's a brief preview of what's instore. Photo features Adam Garden and Kate Jirelle, captured by Chris Lundie https://www.broadwayworld.com//Castle-Hill-Players-Announc https://www.stagewhispers.com.au//castle-hill-players-retu

07.01.2022 Castle Hill Players are proud to congratulate two well-known and generous members who have milestone birthdays this year: Jean Churchward is celebrating 90 years; and Judi Burgess has her 80th later this month. Firstly, let's take a look at some of Jean's (90 years young) on stage contributions to our theatre. Towards Zero, 2017's Calendar Girls (left of photo), and 2008's Dinkum Assorted. Some of Judi's (80 years young) on stage contributions to our theatre include 1976'...s The Killing of Sister George (Judi on left), and 1978's The Heiress; May you both have happy and healthy birthdays filled with love from family and friends, unforgettable moments, never-ending joy, and happy, happy memories. Congratulations, and we all wish you both many more beautiful days ahead. No matter how old you get, you seem to be forever young. Thank you to Maureen Cartledge for photos and archival information.

07.01.2022 A COVID testing unit has set up at Castle Hill Showground in the carpark at the rear of the Pavilion Theatre. With recent positive cases in the district it has been recommended by the state government that those of us who may have come into contact with the virus be tested. It is understood the test is a simple procedure with waiting times varying, depending on demand but averaging around 30 minutes, during which you remain in your car. Take care everyone.

06.01.2022 Exciting times for many of our CHP members who have been nominated in the 2020 Broadway World Australia Awards. Voting is now open so go to it! https://www.broadwayworld.com/sydney/voteregion.cfm Of course, we would've loved to see all our productions nominated but the criteria excluded our first 4 productions of 2019 which included some outstanding directors, performers, and designers. So congratulations and good luck to our nominees who were part of our productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, Nell Gwynn and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

04.01.2022 In honour of World Pyjamas Day (who knew??) our Friday Flashback features Julian Floriano and Mary Clarke from our 2017 production of Ladies In Lavender. Happy PJs Day everyone! It's also World Emoji Day so here are a couple of emojis to make you smile .

04.01.2022 Our first night back is done and dusted and the sun is up on a new day. We were all very excited to be back and our audience arrived with a look of anticipation and left with smiles all round. The COVID safety plan worked well and we're ready to do it all again tonight. Tickets are FREE to The War of the Worlds so book online at www.paviliontheatre.org.au., arrive early to wander through the food stalls of the night markets and make your way across to the theatre around 7pm for COVID checkin before our 7.30 curtain. See you there

02.01.2022 We hope you've all enjoyed your Friday 13th. Here are some charmers from productions past to put you in the mood. WAR OF THE WORLDS is being presented tonight from 7.30pm at The Pavilion, tickets online for FREE. www.paviliontheatre.org.au I can't think of a better way to finish off your day.

02.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. Every year on this day we pause to remember those who have fought for this nation, this world, who lost their lives so that we may have ours. We will never forget, we will always be grateful. 'Never before has so much been owed by so many, to so few.' Winston Churchill.

02.01.2022 WAR OF THE WORLDS made its triumphant stage debut last week! Hear from members of the audience: 'It's just so great to be back!' - an excited audience member 'We thoroughly enjoyed the show. They really nailed the American accents' - Pat and Maryanne, Subscribers 'The story is quite fascinating. To think those listening at home thought it was real!' - Saturday night audience members... It's on again this week - Friday 13th and Saturday 14th at 7.30pm and Sunday 15th at 4.30pm. Tickets are FREE but you must book at www.paviliontheatre.org.au or phone 9634 2929 between 11am and 6pm Mon-Fri. SORRY, NO WALKUPS. We ask that you arrive in advance of curtain time to finalise COVID Safe entry to the theatre. CASTLE HILL PLAYERS - KEEPING YOU COVID SAFE SINCE 2020

01.01.2022 A couple of photos here to bring as many members to the fore as I can manage. Our wonderful production photos are the work of the very talented Chris Lundie, who has recently been seen onstage in Harvey and Biloxi Blues. Here are some cast and crew photos to take a skip down memory lane, excited in the knowledge with the lifting of some restrictions (I repeat, some!) we are getting ever closer to welcoming everyone back to the Pavilion Theatre! Yay!
