12.01.2022 Brilliant individual performances from our 12 multi-eventers this past weekend at the VIC State Championships. With 6 heptathletes and 6 decathletes, the squad collectively took away: 25 personal bests 2 x 3 x 3 x... After every competition, we encourage the squad to reflect on what they took away as lessons from the experience and some of their answers included: patience, how to ride the waves of a good event and a bad event and not let that define a good/bad day, stop overthinking each event and having a race plan. Great life lessons right there and this is why we love sport so much! We are constantly impressed and proud of our squad, not for taking away State Titles, but for their growth in sports(wo)manship, supporting their training mates who might even be their competitors on the day and being humbled by their victories and challenges. Even moreso, we are all so grateful to have our squad families supporting their athletes in their sporting endeavours which is no easy feat with travel logistics, packing-unpacking-repacking, managing emotions, snacks, long days spectating at the track and helping with duties! We thank the Bendigo Athletic Club for hosting another wonderful State Champs for the Multi-Eventers and @AthleticsVicotoria officials and volunteers for organising a safe and sanctioned event for us to show off what we have been working hard towards.
