Update goes as follows: Victorian residents (including all of Melbourne) CAN travel to NSW green zones (Mulwala) without needing to isolate on their return. You just need to apply for a permit to return to Victoria.... We are happy to announce that this means any Victorian resident can cross the NSW border to come visit Mulwala resort! All travelers from Victoria who are wanting to travel from VIC to NSW, here are the updated restrictions: Victoria is establishing a permit system for all domestic travel. ... From 5:59pm on 11 January, you will need to apply for a permit to enter Victoria from anywhere in Australia. Apply online for a permit. The permit system is based on a traffic light system which allows for areas across Australia to be designated as green, orange or red according to their risk. Green permit needed - no need to test or isolate Orange permit needed - must get a test upon arrival back into Victoria and self isolate until results are given - normally within 24 hours Red cannot enter back into Victoria without an exemption The permit system is for both travellers to Victoria and residents of Victoria returning home from interstate travel. New South Wales/Victorian border communities will continue to have exceptions and will be able to use local residence identification to cross the border. 19.01.2022 Dear Government (I’m not even sure which one, but if the shoe fits) I am a Moama resident (if you don’t know where that is by now, google map it, it may not re...main on there for much longer). COVID has devastated the whole world. Everyone has been impacted in different ways. I’m here to talk about how border communities have been affected. I’ll keep it short for you, I know how busy you all are! We have been either CLOSED, restricted, inadvertently locked down along with VIC, or open with no visitors and nowhere to go for 38 weeks since March 2020. The decision from VIC government on New Year’s Eve, was the straw that broke the camels back. By camels, I mean NSW Border moteliers, publicans, pharmacists, butchers, bakers, Watersport operators, restaurant owners, newsagents, holiday park owners..... the list goes on. For those that don’t know why, it’s because 99.99% of our business over summer comes from Victorians. Tourism (said Victorian’s) contributes $143.59 MILLION to our local economy. I’ve heard from and read so many heartbreaking stories from our local business owners. I cannot comprehend any of this. It’s an extremely somber feeling and I have never felt so emotional about something that really has no impact on my own personal life. I’m lucky to have a stable job and supportive family and friends. For others, this isn’t the case. Please help save our lives. I have cried when thinking about our uncertain future. What about our children? William 3.5 years old, Katherine 2.5 years old and Louis 10 months old. They want to go to the day care playing and learning with their educators and friends and like to participate in Chinese and dancing classes. There is so much more. Does any state government have a plan of action to deal with small COVID outbreaks in the future other than to close borders with neighbouring states??? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
