25.01.2022 It was Winter Solstice on the weekend, with the Sun at its furthest point from us in the southern sky. This is an important turning point in the year as today we begin to expand outwards again, in our thinking and in our hearts as the warmth returns. Seasonal festivals help us to become aware of this inner reality of the seasonal changes, the effects of the seasons on our being and on the Earth itself. Sadly we have had to postpone our winter festival this year but here is a memory from 2017. We hope that in your homes this week, you take the time to light a candle in thankfulness for the return of the Sun.

01.01.2022 Thanks to our class 1 teacher Rosie who took up the task of recording her Main Lesson chalk board drawing. We will continue to work with different methods of recording chalk drawings. Main Lesson is an integrated, thematic block of work taking up the morning lesson of each day for a 2-4 week period. The Main Lesson allows children to study a subject in depth but also provides a fresh start several times a term.
