25.01.2022 Good Morning all you beautiful people

24.01.2022 This weeks MumHaven tip to keep minds busy and provide and daily challenge!! PUZZLES!!!! ( set it up somewhere around the house so everyone can stop by add a couple pieces)

23.01.2022 Wow!! Feeling like a winner atm so I had to share

23.01.2022 Where does that silliness come from when my child is studying? Ok so if you would like to hear what happened with my kids the other day then continue reading I have a 10 and 12 year old, both being home schooled and we are managing pretty well, but yesterday morning they were both upstairs in their rooms calling out to each other like crazy people and cacking themselves laughing.... I called out once or twice from downstairs and said hey peeps I’m pretty sure this is study time and play time comes around at 3pm, can we focus a little more for now?. They both call out sure mum! and its quiet for 5 or so minutes and then I hear giggling again. I let it go for another 5 minutes to see if they could straighten themselves out but unfortunately life had all of a sudden become very VERY funny. So I call out to them both ok who is coming downstairs with me to clear up the word they don’t understand first? I get the automatic I’m fine mum, I don’t have a misunderstood word. I acknowledge their point of view and say I get it, that’s fine, but just pop down here for 5 minutes and let me check you out just incase there is something. I reluctantly get my 10 yr old son down first, he says its fine mum, I’m learning about capacity. I said ok cool, what does that mean? He gives me half a description of the word. I say that’s great! Have you got anymore to that? He squirms a little. So say ok, pull up Google dictionary and lets see what else we need to know about capacity. So Cooper pulls up the definition and reads it out. (sometimes Google definitions can be hard for kids so we sometimes just google definitions for dummies ro try different dictionaries, however this definition was pretty straight forward) He reads it out loud and then says hang on, the definition the teacher gave us doesn’t have the full definition mum. I smile and say ok no worries. Well good we looked then! SO give me a couple sentences with this definition. He did. He started smiling and says ohhhhhhhh. I get it now! That makes sense. We then got up a couple images of capacity, what it might look like. He was interested in the images and just became more interested in what he was studying. I said ok so you’re fine to go back and study?. He said yup and ran up the stairs. I then called out to my other giggler and we did the same thing. HANDLED! I have learnt about the simple barriers we come across when studying and you will find them in the book, or online course I have mentioned below. Home schooling doesn’t have to be so hard! Check out Volunteer Minister Technology of Study. You can get it as a small book or do a short free online course. Enjoy

17.01.2022 Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I am going to be cheeky, play and trick, chase someone, feel the sun and smile about all the things I love

15.01.2022 Hello again everyone, Loving all your feedback, a big THANK YOU from Mumhaven!! Next question..."Can you be a little too serious at home at times and is it getting you the results you want?"

13.01.2022 Scheduling boards are not just for parents, but for kids too! Like most effective ideas they are so simple that we tend to overlook them. So follow these steps...... 1. Get agreement with kids that you're going to make an AWESOME schedule board TOGETHER this weekend! 2. Write a list of things that need to be done within the week at home, both children and parents. 3. Get the childrent to decide when and which days they what? Get agreement. 4. Fill in the board 5. Put an alarm on one of their devices for 8.30am so they go look at it each morning, this helps them take responsibility. 6. Work out what the reward is for those who complete all tasks at the end of the week!! All the best from MumHaven
