25.01.2022 TODAY I MET...GIOVANNI What a wonderful privilege to meet this handsome 9 week old young man and his lovely parents. I did a home visit and we got to talk about heaps of things, give some feeding advice, show Mum and Dad some settling and positioning suggestions, and remind Mum of what a wonderful job she is doing. Thanks for having me at your place Giovanni! Guess how we met? Instagram....tag a friend who may like a home visit

23.01.2022 Can any new (or older) Mums relate?

23.01.2022 CUPPA CATCH UP Met up this week with expectant families and more catch ups booked for next week. I really enjoy giving my time for potential clients to get to know me. This provides a sense of trust as we build a plan of support for after baby comes home. It is fabulous to plan for birth, but equally important to have people to lean on in those new busy parenting months. Know anyone expecting in 2021? Please tag them in so they get to know me, I get to meet them and we both get to have a cuppa together

19.01.2022 CONNECT MORE An important part of your overall health is feeling connected. In this crazy year of 2020 that is more true than ever. Meeting up with family, going for a walk with a friend, talking to your bestie on the phone, chatting to the neighbours....all simple things that make us feel better and lift our mood. Check out the Dear Mind campaign here https://mentalwellbeing.initiatives.qld.gov.au/... I am happy to connect with you if you are at home with a new bubba, and also happy to facilitate young Mums getting to know each other and having a Mums group with babies the same age. What is your favourite way of connecting more?

13.01.2022 HOBBIES I love reading and am so excited to get my hands on @sallyhepworth new book The Good Sister. It hadn’t even been unpacked from the boxes @dymocksindooroopilly this morning. I also love my plants as you can see from the background. What are you reading at the moment?

12.01.2022 FOURTH TRIMESTER The 3 months after your baby is born is called the 4 th trimester. Honestly, it doesn’t matter how much I have discussed this topic in antenatal classes over the years, most people are tuned in only to getting through birth and don’t hear much past that. That is normal of course as that is one of the biggest days of your life. The 4 th trimester brings joy and also a rollercoaster of emotions and change. While, you are pregnant, have a think about postnatal... support. Who can you call on for help? Maybe do a big cook up and have some freezer meals ready. Think about how you can shortcut household chores or even better - delegate. Worth a thought. Have a great weekend everyone

12.01.2022 FIRST SIX WEEKS Lower your expectations - your fulltime job is to get to know, feed and care for this tiny new human Rest as much as possible - This isn’t just a nice thing to do. This is vital to recover from your birth and build your milk supply Take short cuts - clean washing is good enough. If it doesn’t get folded and put away who cares? Eat more snacks - you will be tired so keeping your energy up with good snacks really helps. Bananas, apples, an extra cheese... toastie Smile, talk, sing, kiss, cuddle your baby. You cannot spoil your baby Accept help - the first six weeks as a new Mumma is plain hard work. Help and support is there. Sometimes the hardest part is just asking (I should know!) What helped you get through the first 6 weeks?

11.01.2022 Thanks for holding my hand and helping me begin a whole new journey too @she_minds_creative These ladies are fantastic website creators and mentors.

09.01.2022 BUILDING BLOCKS 6 things to do. Sounds simple enough. Taking the time, finding the time or creating the time and energy to give these things a go can be the tricky part. So, if you are reading this as one of my new followers, as a new Mumma, as a friend, as a colleague, come along for the ride. I will explore these building blocks more over the coming week. I will give you some practical tips of how I am using these building blocks myself and how they may help you too. Tag a friend who may find these building blocks as helpful as I do

09.01.2022 MEET EDWARD What a gorgeous soul. Look at those eyes. Edward is flexing his muscles here. What an honour to spend time with him and his gorgeous Mum each week!

08.01.2022 STAR Last week I got to assist the lovely Mum of this little Star. The first 6 weeks is exhausting. I watched a feed, we chatted. I assisted with settling, we chatted. We made a bit of a plan and chatted some more.

07.01.2022 I CARE In this most unusual and difficult year we firmly believe that PANDA Week it is more important than ever. With many expecting and new parents struggling due to COVID-19 and associated restrictions, it’s critical that we work together to support families facing mental health challenges at this time. Our theme for PANDA Week 2020 is ‘Tell someone who cares’. What does this mean? This year, more than ever it’s vital that expecting and new parents who are struggling know t...hey’re not alone and can reach out for help. And just as importantly, they can know that when they do reach out, they will be supported by those they confide in, whether family members, health professionals, PANDA or other perinatal mental health specialists. http://instagram.com/pandanational

07.01.2022 WALKING Something so simple, and yet has so many benefits. Don’t worry about getting into your active wear; don’t worry about what is not done around the house; just leave your joggers near the front door; grab the pram and go for a walk. Movement is your medicine

07.01.2022 PEACE OF MIND We all joke about wishing a new baby also came with a manual but unfortunately they don’t. The weight of responsibility, throw in some sore boobs and a fair dose of tiredness....and it makes for a heady mix. The whole crux of creating this home visiting and phone consult service was to give new Mummas the time and space they needed to have their questions and concerns listened to without being rushed.... My most popular package is a three (YES 3) hour home visit where we can take our time. I will teach you, nurture you and check your baby. This also comes with email and text support after the initial visit. And, it you feel like you are falling in a heap - I offer Urgent Care Callouts as well. Check out all the options at Mummalane.com What would you like to get out of a home visit in the birth - 12 months age ?

05.01.2022 NATURE The Jacaranda trees are in full bloom here in Brisbane. I enjoy the colours so much. My Mumma Lane logo is purple and shows my love of handwriting and creating with words, warmly surrounded by a teal circle with leaves to remind us of the simple, calming joy nature can bring. A natural backdrop of my two favourite colours on my morning walk. Happy days. And, thanks you to hayleyg.creative for inspiring me today. What colour combos do it for you?

02.01.2022 A USELESS QUOTE Just to see if you get to see my thread! I am into gentle, simple steps, done in the same order, to make you feel more in control and confident. Is your baby’s sleep an issue for you?

01.01.2022 PREMMIE BABIES The Neonatal ICU and Special Care Nursery environment is something I am used to as it is where I have spent many years of my nursing life. However, for parents facing the reality of a sick or premmie baby it can be shattering. It is not the place parents expect to spend long days and nights in. Today I was asked to help support a young family when their bubba is ready to come home. This bubba was extremely premature and is a tough little fellow. I can’t wait to meet him. What an honour
