06.01.2022 A temporary reprieve! Thank you to all those that joined our campaign requesting the NSW Government to cancel the terminal in recent weeks. The Government has ...listened and has delayed the cruise terminal project for 18 months! Of course, the cruise industry is still insisting on a cruise terminal, notwithstanding the crisis that has hit the industry. The fight is not over - it may still be put back on the table in 18 months. But a big pat on the back to all our members who have not taken their foot off the pedal and kept fighting with us for the last two years. Now to bring this home...... let's insist they scrap this project. Big thank you to the Executive Committee of Save the Bay (Leanne Ooi, Cheryl Rennie, Peter Fagan, Mellie Melba and until recently Andrea Laracy and others along the way, including Bill Burst, Derek Z, Yasmina Bonnet and Christine Kitamura), our volunteers (TOO MANY to name but special mention to Viv Polyblank, Bella Glennie, Mark Hedge, Maria Bradley, Katrina Dreweri, Linda C, Chris G, James O’Connor, Dharma Bendesrsky, Chris Hanson and Robert Cornelius et al for contributing so much from the early days to more recently), Randwick City Council (especially Mayor Danny Said, Crs @ Dylan Parker, Carlos Da Rocha, Philipa Veitch and the Comms Team Joshua Hay), Bayside Council (Cr Christina Curry, Mayor Joe Awad and Cr Scott Morrissey and Comms Team), Barry & Lyn Wallace and their team at Yarra Bay Sailing Club, the incredible leading support of Matt Thistlethwaite and Michael Daley, as well ass David Shoebridge, Mark Banasiak, Marjorie O'Neill, Ron Hoenig MP and their teams, Maritime Union of Australia - MUA (Paul Garrett and others), Barry & Lyn Wallace and their team at Yarra Bay Sailing Club, Recreational Fishing Alliance (Stan Konstantaras), La Perouse Aboriginal Land Council (Noeleen Timbery) and the local community (in particular Trevor Walker), Clubs NSW and all the other community groups and members around Botany Bay and Eastern Sydney that have joined the fight. NOW TO FIGHT FOR THE CANCELLATION OF THE PROJECT. Please keep writing to the Premier to demand the cancellation of the project everyone. This is not the time to be complacent. KEEP THE PRESSURE ON!!!!!
