17.01.2022 TOBY RETURNS FOR 2021. Another exciting signing this week with key playmaker Toby Warwick agreeing to terms with the club for the 2021 season. When asked about his decision to sign on for 2021, Warwick commented I'm looking forward to getting out again with the mates I’ve made over the last year at the club and kick a few snags as well!... Warwick has been a dominating and vocal force across both the Eagles forward and back line and is keen to improve on his 12th placing in the club medal count. I love what we’re building here and want to see the rapid progress continue. A flag is not out of the question for this club. Warwick said.

15.01.2022 The Murrumbateman Football Club was fortunate enough to hold our Season 2020 Presentation Dinner on Saturday 31st October. The Mighty Murrumbateman Eagles made the finals in only our second year on the paddock. A great effort from the Eagles, and there is plenty of upside potential for the 2021 season. There were 13 trophies awarded for both on and off field achievements as well as appreciation awards for our fantastic major sponsors. The deserving recipients are:... Best and Fairest - Pat Ryan Runner Up Best and Fairest - Dave Guttler Leading Goal Kicker - Brent Ford Best Backman - Mark Graeme Coaches Award - Kevin Mangan Captains Award - Cam Harding Players Player - Pat Ryan Player of the Finals - Simon Treloar Most Improved - Blake Reid Most Consistent - Haydn Dobson Appreciation award to Senior Coach - Terry Lemon Presidents Award - Steve Hugler Club Person of the Year - Andy Ingold Club Sponsor - Murrumbateman Pub- Murrumbateman Country Inn Club Sponsor - Nulook Pools Club Sponsor - Oldmate ACT Club Sponsor - Southern Cable Services Club Sponsor - Murrumbateman Rural Supplies The Murrumbateman Football Club committee wishes to thank all of those that attended this celebration of the 2020 season, and thank all of the players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and the Murrumbateman community for helping us throughout the year.

15.01.2022 Foundation Eagle Back for 2021 The Murrumbateman Football Club is pleased to announce that Two-Time Club Leading Goal Kicker Brent Ford will return to the club in 2021. Ford has missed just one game since becoming a foundation player in 2019, booting 53 goals in 22 matches, finishing runner-up in the competition's goal kicking award in both 2019 and 2020.... Ford says he's looking forward to the challenge of helping the club grow following this year's first finals appearance. "There is a lot of talent within the group, and we showed in patches this year we were capable of matching it with the better teams in the competition". "Personally, I'm disappointed I couldn't play in that final at Yass, so there is a bit of unfinished business." With a younger brother playing at his junior club Ainslie, Ford says ultimately being able to balance his coaching ambitions won out. "There was always that temptation to play back at Ainslie next year, but following Rourkey (Chris Rourke) leaving the club, and the selections that were made this year it shows Ainslie is focusing on youth." "I've never been able to play with my brother, so that would've been the main attraction to return to Ainslie. Maybe one day he'll come out and play for the Eagles with me!. "I'm also involved in the women's program at Eastlake, and don't want to give up that role, as I feel the squad is on the verge of something special." With Covid-19 impacting this year's season, Ford says he's thankful for the backing the team received throughout the year. "Seeing what having a team means to the community, and being able to come down and watch on game day here in Murrumbateman is quite special. "We're only a small team in the scheme of things, so to get the support that we do from those that come out and cheer us on, and the sponsors that back us so we can put a team on the paddock, is quite special."

13.01.2022 Winners are Grinners. Great game in poor conditions by our Mighty Eagles over the Ainslie Tricolours.

13.01.2022 An overdue congratulations to the Eagles 2020 Co-Captions David Guttler and Tim Drage. These two are true leaders on and off the field: talented, courageous, disciplined and hard-working. Two great men to be leading our club.

12.01.2022 Best and Fairest signs on for 2021. We're very pleased to announce that current Best and Fairest and Player's Player, Pat Ryan, has confirmed he'll be wearing the Eagles jumper next season. Patty said today that "The club is very passionate and a positive place to be around. I have felt welcome ever since the first game I played halfway through the 2019 season which had already commenced."... Ryan polled consistently at the Eagles recent presentation night, narrowly edging out crowd favourite Dave Guttler for the top award. "Winning the Best and Fairest in my first full year this year has been a great achievement and I am eager to see many more club and personal achievements at Murrumbateman" Ryan said. "I've also made some great new friendships with people who are passionate about the Murrumbateman Football Club and the Murrumbateman community". Upon confiming his commitment to the Eagles, Ryan went on to say "I'm keen to see where the club can go next year and into the future".

12.01.2022 KEY RUCKMAN SIGNS ON. Powerful ruckman Kevin Mangan has extended his contract with the club into the 2021 season. "I moved to Murrumbateman 2 years ago and was keen to throw myself into the local community. After a great first season with the Eagles, I can see where this club is going. I have now played in all 4 divisions in AFL Canberra and can say that this is a good bunch of blokes.... Mangan brought some much needed height and specialist ruck skills to the club at the start of 2020. He put in some dominant performances and was presented with the Coaches Award by coach Terry Lemon. We rattled the premiers ANU for a long period of the game. We just need to develop that grit and determination to stick it out in the big games. Unfortunately, COVID unsettled our momentum and we lost a few players during the lockdown. Hopefully we’ll sign up a few new guys for 2021 and add a bit more depth to the squad. Having recently underwent keyhole surgery to repair some damaged cartilage in his knee, Mangan said I can’t wait to get back into preseason training once I recover from the knee operation. It was an easy decision to sign on with the Eagles. A big plus for me playing for the local team is having beers at the pub after games, and then having only a short walk home. Mangan said.

11.01.2022 Tough start for the Eagles in our very first finals game. Its Eagles V Yass Roos at Googong Oval. Last minute goal has us still in the mix at Quarter time. Eagles 1:1:7 to Roos 4:3:27

04.01.2022 'BULL'S' IN FOR 2021 The club can confirm another exciting signing for the 2021 season with Josh 'Bull' Wallace making true to his promise... "I came to Murrumbateman with a purpose and a goal to give the community something to be proud of. I told Andy (MFC President) that I would don the Eagles colours for the rest of my career and I’m going to honour that!" Wallace said. Wallace is the only player to have played every game for the Eagles since their inauguration in the AFL ...Canberra competition at the start of 2019, and is testament to the spirit and dedication of our team members. "We have come so far as a group since we all started. The joy of playing footy with my younger brother, being part of the clubs first win, and making finals in our second year was a special feeling." "The mateship and bonds that we have made are second to none, so bring on 2021 the year of the Eagle !" says Wallace.

The next session is 5:15pm this Thursday. See you there!

01.01.2022 Three quarter time. Bring it home boys!

01.01.2022 BRENT FRASER SECURED AS NEW EAGLES COACH MFC is excited to announce that we have secured the services of talented player and coach Brent Fraser for at least the next two years. ‘Frase’ moved to the area a few years ago with his young family, and has been quietly watching the progress of the Murrumbateman Football Club. I took my family along to a few Eagles home games over the last couple of years and I love the country community feel which I experienced at those games he ...said. The 36 year old has some solid coaching credentials already and is passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive culture at the club. Having coached the Coomera Magpies and Jimboomba Redbacks in AFLQ and Gungahlin Rising Stars and 2nd Division in AFL Canberra, Fraser puts his success down to bringing the whole club together, not just the players. As a coach I like to mentor the younger group, driving the club to success both on and off the field. Fraser also knows his stuff on the field. He was part of the Gungahlin Jets 1st Div team in 2020 and previously played 1st Div for Broadbeach Cats, Coomera Magpies and Wagga Tigers. I’m very excited about the opportunity to be a part of this club and am looking forward to meeting everyone soon said Fraser.
