15.01.2022 Happy hump day... I'd love some feedback on a few tracks. I am looking to record an EP later this year and have a few tracks set aside for it. I'd love to know your thoughts on them. There is even 1 particular track with 3 alternate versions. Which version(s) would you like to hear on the EP? 12.01.2022 This baby is a 1962 Gibson Les Paul...its an SG I hear you say.... Well, not quite. This shape was introduced in 1960, not designed by Les Paul, and he disliked the shape and wanted his name removed from the headstock. So the "61 and "62 production guitars bore the name Les Paul on the headstock. In 1963 it was removed and the guitar became known as the "SG" which stood for " Solid Guitar". This particular guitar was owned by my late brother Russ Johnson of the great Australi...an Band in the 70's Mississippi who went on to become LRB. Russ owned the guitar for some years and I remember watching him play it when I was a young boy. Some years ago while Russ was still with us, he had need to part with this beauty and it found a new home with a collector here in Adelaide. It stayed with the collector until the collector died at which time it became the property of the collectors son. A couple of years ago, I tracked down the collectors son and negotiated the purchase of this amazing guitar and she is now proudly part of our family again. I hope that perhaps it has somehow passed on a small part of Russ's talent to me...let's hope! The shots of the guitar are of Russ sometime in the 80s playing it, also when it featured on the Album cover of Jim Hermel's album, and a snap of Russ's son Dillon reminiscing with it... hope you enjoyed today's little story.
