25.01.2022 Sessions may be suspended, but I am still here to support you in ways that I can - from how to make instruments at home with stuff that’s lying around in your house, to music and videos that I love to sing for all kinds of healthy brain development and how to use devices in a meaningful way. In an age where technology and media is for better or worse taking over our lives, I make it a priority of finding ways to use the ipad or iphone to purposefully engage my daughte...r in music making. As many of us are practicing social isolation and are home with our children all day, finding fun and engaging activities can be challenging. Two APPS that I LOVE to use with my daughter and for myself are: BLOOM https://apps.apple.com/au/app/bloom/id292792586 TROPE https://apps.apple.com/us/app/trope/id312164495 Made by the contemporary ambient composer Brian Eno, both APPS immerse you in gorgeously unfolding soundscapes that you and the whole family can create with the swipe of a finger. Both APPS generate a variety of colour palettes, with TROPE being more geared towards creating lines and patterns - I love drawing my daughter's name against the soundscape backdrops. It's both relaxing and fun. These APPS aren't free, but in my opinion are well worth their moderate price tag. I hope you are all keeping well and safe in these challenges times. 15.01.2022 Why music therapy is so beneficial in building those foundational skills not only for learning but also to enhance the overall wellbeing of the individual across their life journey

15.01.2022 This post goes out to all of the SBS mums (sorry dads). Hi mums! One of the things that got me through post natal anxiety was meditation. It helped me to accept my identity as a mother (both psychologically and physically) but also helped me connect with my creative self. ... Since I started my music therapy studies last year I’ve been really passionate about creating opportunities for mums and emerging mothers to connect with their bodies, breath and divine creativity... So I invite you to celebrate International Women’s Day by honoring yourself and your community of women. The philosophy: Rhythm and low frequencies hold us together in ritual and creativity in this guided creative meditation. Regular rhythms and low frequencies were the first sounds we all heard in the intrauterine environment, and when now, as women, we allow ourselves to be bathed in these familiar, nourishing and maternal sounds, we break away from the ego and explore our own creativity. Using oil pastels on paper, delve into your creative essence as the live sounds of the double bass stimulate your positive imagery, feelings and words to reveal your divine goddess in a safe and supportive space. The workshop will be presented in 4 parts: welcome and light/colour induction creative drawing with oil pastels to live improvised music creative prose with oil pastels to live improvised music breath work, sharing (elective) of experience with the group in a supportive space When? March 8, 5-7pm Where? Marcoola All materials, Grazing table and refreshments will be available upon arrival. To book, please click on the link https://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php I hope to see you there. It will be an honor to guide you PM for any questions

01.01.2022 One of the activities we love to include in our sessions are stories set to music. It all started with Craig Smith’s #thewonkydonkey!! It’s not only a great way to end a session but also to encourage a love of reading as a family in a fun and creative way. I’ve been visiting my local library to find books that I think have beautiful messages of hope, freedom, adventure, resilience, courage, inclusivity, diversity and empowerment and came across ‘The Sea Saw’ by Tom Percival.... I’ll be singing/reading this book set to live guitar accompaniment for our next session together. It’s a really gorgeous book and I can’t wait to share it with you. Parents - I’d love to hear your suggestions of children’s books that I could set to music - what are some of your fav’s??
