25.01.2022 Episode Five of From MUST Till Dawn is out now! This episode Callum Cheah chats to Emma Batty Emma Batty is currently trying to sort her life out. Throughout her uni career Emma has dipped her toe in directing, scriptwriting, and done flips and tricks (not literally) with acting/performing. If you’ve seen MUST’s best (you cannot change my mind) production, Climbers (2019), or the CTP performance of My Brilliant Career (2019), or even My Dearworthy Darling (2019) at the Maltho...use Theatre you’ve seen Emma in her prime. If you were going to see the (N)o-Show you could’ve seen Emma perform but, unfortunately, no one did. She is also an avid makeup artist whose journey you can follow here: https://www.instagram.com/eb.artistry/ Throughout her life Emma has based parts of her personality on films she’s seen and with covid-19 she’s had plenteous amounts of viewings to do so, tune in to see whether or not she did the same for From Dusk Till Dawn (spoiler alert: she did not). 25.01.2022 STRANGEkit's HOLESP@CE has been out for 2 days and we’ve already had heaps of you take the journey! $24 though, nice deal. Disclaimer: HOLESP@CE is proudly sponsored by Jubilee!Spring!Rolls!... [Video description: A large foot opens a kitchen drawer, cuts to a close up shot of an exposed neck (Callum’s). The neck eats the spring roll being fed by a hand. The front door opens and a Callum wearing a orange fluoro jacket and a cap enters and passes a spring roll to the camera and then exits. Another Callum wearing a black trench coat dress places a plate of spring rolls on a table. The camera angles up and Callum with his curly hair in buns does a little awkward boogie from side to side. $24.39 and Jubilee Spring Rolls flashes on the screen. [Transcript: Have you got a neuck? Give it a jubilee spring roll. *chewing noises* Now we do delivery to *murmurs of affirmation* Mmmm what a cool delivery guy, nice. Look at the hat! Look at the hat! jacket! JUBILEE SPRING ROLLS. 08.01.2022 Episode Three of From MUST Till Dawn is out now! This episode Callum Cheah has not one but two guests! Celina Mack and Savanna Wegman, who have shown their interpretation of From Dusk Till Dawn here: https://docs.google.com//1LU-oOBgWVgxzWvcXeEPOkBZ-Nc/edit Celina is a Narrm based performance artist and director. Celina has been performing regularly for many years, with experience acting and creating in plays, musical theatre, short films and immersive theatrical events. C...elina has completed performance training across multiple institutions including Meisner Melbourne and VCA. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre and Performance at Monash University, also minoring in Film and Television Studies. Since beginning at Monash, Celina has realised her overwhelming passions for experimental performance and video art, collaborative devising and directing! This is where Celina first met Savanna Wegman and they began trialling their techniques for the absurd, co-directing small projects and experimental endurance/installation art pieces. Celina is excited to continue making artistic works which can be described as absurdist, surrealist, structuralist, mundane, affective or even daringly meaningless, with the aim of combining many artistic mediums and questioning any need for their separation. Savanna Wegman is Co-Director of STRANGEkit performance art collective and in her third year with MUST. She has delved into the directing and visual design guilds of theatrical creation and has worked on End Transmission (2018), Monash Shakespeare Company’s R&J (2019) and Do Not Collect $200 (2019). Through her creations, Sav is currently learning more about 3D art/design, alternate realities and cowboys. She is reading books about love, feminist science fiction and talking ferrets, and in lockdown is also practicing her soup making skills (current speciality = minestrone). At uni Sav studies theatre and performance, literature and digital humanities in a Bachelor of Arts and enjoys listing things in threes maybe a bit too much. She’s keen to discuss all things Playtime and Tarantino and expose some rare angry thoughts in this podcast which is very unlike Sav. 03.01.2022 Episode Four of From MUST Till Dawn is now live! This episode, Callum chats to Emlyn Sugden Emlyn Sugden is a friend, buddy and pal of Callum’s. OH, and he’s an actor at MUST, having performed in Holloway: A Brand New Musical, Slaughterhouse Five and of course, the odyssey that was, Fur on The Forwardline. Apart from finishing a degree in theatre, performance and musical theatre, during lockdown Emlyn has watched a lot of films. Perhaps, one would argue, not enough. Having w...atched such classics as From Dusk Till Dawn to The Wind Rises, back to From Dusk Till Dawn again, Emlyn still, to this day thinks, watching bad movies is not fun. A polarising opinion that got him onto this prestigious podcast. Podcast available now on: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5UKVj6fAKIoqWEasBAfMsB Anchor: https://anchor.fm/frommusttilldawn
02.01.2022 "IN YOUR DREAMS" Part One - SNEAK PEAK Are you a film buff? Want to examine when our anxieties and nightmares interact with the absurdities of everyday life? Or just want a laugh? The fabulous films of Shane Gardam have got it all covered!... Shane is a fringe artist and filmmaker, who has won 'Best Australian Short Film' for their documentary 'Westall' at the 2018 Sci-Fi festvial. Since then, Shane has had a focus on both written narrative work and improvised video content. Among these is the development of an expansive interactive webseries that includes video, text, discoverable websites, email correspondence and multiple fully fledged novels. Shane's work concentrates on the absurdities of mundane life, the speculative unknown, and why connection is vital to the human condition. They are committed to having made 150 short films by the end of the year, and are one third of the way there! A collection of five of Shane’s short films will be screened at In Your Dreams composed of a blend of comedy, drama and surrealist horror, though all serve to articulate themes of loneliness, vulnerability, and the value of human connection. Their response to the theme of In Your Dreams is sure to make you laugh one moment, and reflect the next, as they explore the anxieties of daily life, and reflect on their cynicism for the future. CONTENT NOTE: Mild nudity. Don’t miss out on this fantastic, thought-provoking screening, as well as a variety of responses from our talented performers! Tickets here: http://bit.ly/InYourDreamsOneTickets
01.01.2022 This montage, first shown at the wrap party, is just a taste of all the amazing projects that ran this year! Congratulations to everyone who created events or engaged with MUST in 2020!
