21.01.2022 Happy Halloween. Last night our students, staff and parents gathered at school for games and activities before hitting the streets to trick or treat on dusk. Many thanks to all of the community members who got involved and offered ‘treats’ and even a few ‘tricks’. We are so blessed to live where we do and the ‘village’ that helps raise our children.

17.01.2022 This Friday. For our Muttaburra SS families and students.

17.01.2022 How did you learn your times tables? At Muttaburra we recite our weekly times tables, after we line up at the end of both breaks, as we march up the stairs back to class. We also dance to multiplication ‘raps’ each day to use our bodies and different parts of our bodies to learn. This week it’s the 9x tables.

15.01.2022 ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see?’ Are just two of many Eric Carle books, loved by our early years team.

12.01.2022 Did you know it’s Dental Health Week? Young children should be brushing their teeth morning and night for two minutes. Congratulations to our graduating students, Tyrell and Makayla. We wish you all the best for high school.

08.01.2022 On our second day of Dinosaur Camp we visited Lark Quarry and were amazed by the perfectly preserved footprints that were left behind after a dinosaur stampede. Back in town, we cooled off with an afternoon at the water park.

07.01.2022 Today we commemorated Vietnam Veterans' Day on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966. Together with the town of Muttaburra, we remembered the sacrifices of those who died and say thank you to almost 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of our involvement in the Vietnam War. Lest we forget.

07.01.2022 ' This year has been a very different year for education. We have had to deal with COVID-19 and the impact that this had on education. At Muttaburra, we were very lucky to avoid many of the COVID implications. Our school carried on as usual with student learning our core business. Impact was felt through a lack of travel and our students missing sporting trips and Windorah Sports camp. We had some students and staff leave our school at the end of Term 1.... With four fulltime students, two Kindy students and four part-time students from LSODE, we strived ahead making gains in literacy and numeracy across all our year levels during Terms 2 and 3. Our numbers were boosted in Term 4, as we welcomed four new students and they have settled straight in, adding a new dynamic to our classroom. Our wonderful Kindy students this year have had a spectacular time and have learnt so much. They are ready for Prep! Once again our Kindy program is a key component of our school and successful students. Our P&C has had a quieter year but still managed to raise funds to support or school and community through the Cricket Day, Trivia Night, Melbourne Cup Day and other smaller activities. I would like to thank my hardworking staff for their efforts this year in some challenging times. They go beyond their job descriptions to ensure that every child at Muttaburra State School is succeeding. I would also like to thank the community and the endless amount of support that they provide the school. I look forward to the year ahead and the exciting learning adventures at Muttaburra State School in 2021. Regards, Troy Jenkins - Principal, Muttaburra State School

05.01.2022 This week is Queensland Child Protection Week. Let’s all play our part in keeping children safe and nurtured by building stronger communities and creating safer environments. #qldchildprotectionweek #catchingup4qldkids

04.01.2022 2021 Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey Later this term, students in will be asked to take part in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey. We know that wellbeing and engagement are important parts of your child’s life at school. The department and your school are looking at ways to collect information on these important areas so we can support our students in the best way possible.... The QEW Survey is designed to measure how state school students view their wellbeing and engagement. Results from this survey will tell us about students’ levels of wellbeing and engagement. This information will allow us to better support our students and meet their needs. The QEW Survey will take place at school in Week 8. If you have any questions, please contact the school.

04.01.2022 As you would be aware, before the holidays a quadrennial review was carried out by a review team from the Education Improvement Branch (EIB) at Muttaburra State School from 22 to 23 March 2021. Following the successful review, this week we received a formal report on our achievements. A summary was emailed out today with our newsletter.
