03.01.2022 PLEASE READ!!! Hey guys, I need some help. I just met a girl who became deaf at the age of 15. The doctors tried everything however as her mum had the same thing it was passed on genetically. She cant sign, and cannot speak on the phone. I haven't told her I'm doing this and I hope she doesn't mind. She is an amazing lady and if you met her you would not think she struggles with it. Everything is done either via text messaging or email. If she needs to do something on the ph...one she has to get her daughter to call for her. I showed her my iPhone and and how to voice to text works. I then watched her cry in joy. She then says to me how this would change her life and allow her to regain the independence in her life. I know how important it is to have your own independence as my grandmother is blind. As she is a single mother and cannot work due to being deaf, I would love nothing more than be able to get her and iPhone or iPad 4g. My question is, does anyone know of a government department that could help me, to help her regain her independence. See more
