24.01.2022 Have you seen Fatuma? Police are concerned for her welfare. She was last seen leaving her residence in Avila Way, Alexander Heights around 12:00pm on Thursday 1...7th September 2020. She is described as 19 years of age, 155cm tall, slim build, dark skin, black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, dark green/black coloured skirt, and a black scarf on her head. Concerns are due to her being unreachable and it is very out of character for her not to return home. Any information please contact the Police on 131 444.

24.01.2022 The situation regarding COVID-19 around the world and in Victoria continues to evolve with case numbers in some countries are at unbelievable levels and our f...riends in Victoria facing an extremely serious situation. The level of community spread inside Victoria is something that we havent seen before in this country, and its a sobering reminder of why the measures weve had to put in place are so important. There is no doubt about it as a nation, we are entering a new and dangerous phase of this pandemic. Today, I have been pleased to hear that common sense has prevailed and the border between Victoria and NSW will now close. I think thats a smart decision, and I think it has been long overdue. Today I can report we have detected another three new cases of COVID-19 overnight, meaning weve now found nine new cases in the last two days. However, all these new cases are all returned overseas travellers who flew into Perth recently and have remained in hotel quarantine. With our hard border in place, arrivals to our State has slowed to a trickle, limited mainly to essential services such as freight and handfuls of Western Australians returning. However, it appears, as Western Australia continues to lead the country and position itself as a safe-haven from COVID-19, new arrivals into our State has started to rise. In recent days we have seen an uptick in air arrivals into Perth Airport both from interstate and overseas. Arrivals are still far below pre-pandemic levels, but just the smallest increase in arrivals now needs to be taken seriously. For example, yesterday three international flights and three domestic flights landed in Perth. This increase in arrivals does put pressure on how we manage our border controls and our quarantine systems. Perth is the western gateway to Australia, and over the last week we have seen a slow increase in arrivals into Perth. Currently we have more than 1,100 people in hotel quarantine, across five hotels in Perth, as well as a large number of people in enforceable self-quarantine at home, who have mostly arrived from interstate. However, if arrivals increase, our resources will start to spread thin. Thats why the State Government has formally requested the Federal Government to put in place a cap on international arrivals into Perth Airport. Consistent with the Federal Governments support for the New South Wales cap, I have asked the Prime Minister to agree on a cap for Western Australia. This would be something in the vicinity of one flight per three days. We need to slow the flow of arrivals. This will help us manage the arrivals and quarantine arrangements to the highest standard. In addition, Cabinet today approved the drafting of urgent legislation that will force any returning traveller Western Australian or not to pay for their 14 days of hotel quarantine. This legislation will be drafted as quickly as possible. Once the Bill is ready and approved, we will recall Parliament if necessary for a special sitting to get this legislation through swiftly. Clearly our hard border with the east has served us well - but, our hard border is under threat. As we know, Clive Palmers High Court challenge is being supported by the Federal Government. The announcement today between NSW and Victoria to close their border is one that I support. But the idea our hard border is being challenged in the High Court is now clearly flawed and completely unnecessary. The High Court challenge consumes the resources of many of our top public servants, from our Solicitor General, our Chief Health Officer and our Police Commissioner. In light of the new NSW-Victoria border closure, today, I have asked the Prime Minister to formally withdraw their support from Clive Palmers High Court challenge. It does not make sense for the Federal Government to be supporting a border closure between NSW and Victoria, but on the other hand, challenging WAs border in the High Court of Australia. Quite frankly, the legal challenge, and especially the Commonwealths involvement has now become ridiculous. This nonsense has to stop. And it has to stop now. Western Australias island within an island strategy has been an integral part of our success. WA has not recorded a community based infection since the 11th of April that was 86 days ago. As a result, WA is the most economically free and active State in Australia due to our relaxed restrictions. But we cannot get complacent. I cannot thank the Western Australian community enough for everything they have done over the last four months. We need to remain vigilant. That means: Dont go to work if youre sick. Dont go out or visit friends and family if youre unwell. Maintain a physical distance between others, where possible. Cough or sneeze into your elbow. Wash your hands regularly, and properly. As Western Australians, we all have a personal responsibility. The more we follow the health advice, the more chance we have of being able to continue on our roadmap to recovery.

24.01.2022 Can you help us keep our doors open for the next year? This will allow us to continue serving some of the most vulnerable in our community and know we can continue to do so because of your support. Today, 25 families made up of 144 who are food insecure were given fresh produce and non perishable food items from our Community pantry.... This Ramadan, amplify your rewards by supporting us.

21.01.2022 No Spray Register What is a No Spray Register? Placing your address on a No Spray Register allows you to opt out of chemical spraying on your property boundar...ies. In Australia, most No Spray Registers are managed by local councils under various state, territory and federal legislation. However, there is no consistent implementation of No Spray Registers. Contact your local council and ask if they have a No Spray Register or if there are plans to develop one. If you live next to a rail corridor, a school, power lines or other land managed outside of the council, contact that organisation directly to ask if they have a No Spray Register. What does opt out mean? No Spray Registers are updated annually, and residents can opt out of spraying by registering within a certain timeframe. Requests outside of the time frame are generally not considered, and the request is non transferrable. By opting out you are protecting your property boundaries from unwanted chemical sprays, where your boundary meets council land, or land owned by organisations listed above. The register does not protect you from domestic chemical use and you are encouraged to speak directly with your neighbours. Some No Spray Registers ask property owners to state a reason for the request copy and paste the reasons below to assist with your application. Why should I consider the No Spray Register? There are thousands of pesticides and herbicides used in Australia. The most commonly used herbicide is glyphosate, also known as RoundUp. In Australia, glyphosate is used to spray roadsides, public green spaces, and property boundaries. In 2015 the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer announced that RoundUp and similar products were assessed as probably carcinogenic to humans. Further research shows: Glyphosate perturbs the gut microbiota of honeybees. Glyphosate in Roundup may harm gut bacteria in humans. Glyphosate is a possible endocrine disruptor, interfering with the bodys hormones. Glyphosate may contribute to antibiotic resistant bacteria. Glyphosate exposure correlates to more severe cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease Glyphosate overuse causes herbicide resistance. Glyphosate has been linked to Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, also known as farmers cancer RoundUp and similar products have been successfully marketed as a low toxicity herbicide which led to its extensive use and widespread ecological contamination . Additional research has shown that RoundUp exposure can be toxic to wildlife, including frogs, bees and monarch butterflies and can be found in groundwater and in the soil. On June 24 2020, Bayer announced it would enter into a $10 billion settlement with 90,000 litigants in the United States who claim this product caused their cancer, with a further $1.3 billion set aside for future claims. 30,000 claims remained unsettled with Australia due to hear its first case in the very near future. 13.01.2022 WELCOME TO DJILBA Have you noticed blooms of yellow wildflowers around already? August and September sees the arrival of Djiba, the Nyoongar season of c...onception a time to look for yellow and cream flowers starting to bloom on mass. Djilba is a transitional time of the year, with some very cold and clear days combining with warmer, rainy and windy days mixing with the occasional sunny day or two. This is the start of the massive flowering explosion that happens in the south-west of the state which starts with yellow flowering plants such as acacias. Others colours that are around at this time of year are creams, combined with some vivid and striking blues. Traditionally, the main food sources were land-based grazing animals included the Yongar (kangaroo), the Waitj (emu) and the Koomal (possum). As the days start to warm up, the first newborns of these species would start to be seen with proud parents out and about finding food, teaching them to forage and protecting family units from bigger animals, including people. The woodland birds will still be nest-bound which means the swooping protective behaviour of the Koolbardi (Magpie) starts to ramp up and, if watched closely, so to do the Djidi Djidi (Willy Wag Tails) and the Chuck-a-luck (Wattle Birds) among others. As the season progresses and the temperatures continue to rise, the flower stalks of the Balgas (Grass Trees) will emerge in preparation for the coming Kambarang season. The Nyoongar calendar has six seasons, each representing the changes we see in the environment. Learn more about the six seasons on the Bureau of Meteorologys website: https://bit.ly/2rP5zbx Bureau of Meteorology. Edith Cowan University (ECU).

12.01.2022 Family and domestic violence is a scourge on our community, and it is essential that our laws work to protect victims and reduce rates of violence in our State.... Im proud to say that our Bill to reform Western Australias family violence laws passed State Parliament overnight. It represents the most comprehensive family violence law reform package ever introduced in Western Australia. Our understanding of family and domestic violence is continuing to evolve, and these changes will help our laws keep pace. One of the key changes is a new specific criminal offence for suffocation and strangulation, which we now know is an important risk factor in the context of family violence. We know that a female victim of strangulation is seven times more likely to be the victim of homicide, compared to other family violence victims. The legislation also includes a new specific offence for persistent family violence, in recognition of the reality of family violence for many victims, where the perpetrator commits persistent and ongoing acts of violence against them. We are also enabling courts to declare a person a serial family violence offender, which will make it easier for the courts and police to identify such an offender and mitigate against the risk of reoffending. Other changes include new aggravated penalties for offences that commonly occur in family violence circumstances, making it easier for evidence of family violence to be introduced in criminal trials and requiring police to record every family violence incident. These reforms are the result of years of hard work from our States first ever Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Simone McGurk MLA, and our Attorney General John Quigley. Over the past three years, our Government has shown our commitment to stopping family violence and changing the story for victims with a series of legislative reforms. These reforms are a vitally important change for Western Australia, and they will help to save lives. But I can promise you now our Government will not stop working to reduce the unacceptably high rates of family and domestic violence in the community.

12.01.2022 With the good news of the opening of our boarders, let's continue the good work by following all the current health advice - continuing practising physical distancing and good hygiene.

08.01.2022 What an exciting day! The MWSC held their own version of a Shark Tank Participants were presented with a list topics that were identified as needing to be addressed in our community.... Members who were passionate about a particular topic got to create a project together with others who were interested in the same topic. They then had to creat and hash out their ideas and then pitch their idea to the group of participants who decided whether their idea was worth funding or not. We had 4 groups that pitched and the winning team whose idea was backed will be given $600 to execute their ideas in the next two months. So watch this space as they work with the Centre to take their project from inception to completion over the next couple of months! Thank you to everyone that participated and presented your ideas.

03.01.2022 For the mothers whose wombs have seen their babies come to life and then pass there For the mothers whose children are not by blood but by love For the mothers ...who have birthed and raised their children, then washed, shrouded and buried them For the mothers who raised their children only to feel completely disconnected from them For mothers who try to get a minute of alone time in the bathroom with little fingers pounding on the door For mothers who are nurturing and present despite the difficulty and feeling so alone For those mothers who are struggling to raise their children while battling depression or relationship or life issues For single mothers For the mothers at heart who have wanted nothing more than to be a mother for as long as they can remember, but whose womb cannot hold a baby or who have never had the opportunity despite the fierce longing -- For those whose mothers have passed and whose yearning is so intense it is painful every moment For those whose mothers have hurt more than healed them For those whose mothers were never a part of their lives and who have always felt that longing For those who are watching everyone else celebrate mothers today, but whose hearts are shattered Today, tomorrow and everyday, remember: what people see isn't all of you. God knows what you are. He knows your status. And when you feel overwhelmed and broken because no one else understands all the pain and stigma related to everything other than a specific and "perfect" concept of motherhood: You are incredible because you are trying every single day despite the intense vulnerability and the sometimes overwhelming isolation. And you are not alone: "...He is with you wherever you are." (Quran, 57:4)
