21.01.2022 Group outings can sometimes bring about anxiousness as changes of routine and environment is not always welcomed smoothly by all participants but Alhamdulillah our group outing today to Sydney Zoo was a great success! After visiting Taronga Zoo a few years ago participants were excited to see what Sydney Zoo had to offer. They had a wonderful day exploring all the different features and seeing all the different animals at the zoo. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #sydneyzoo #muslimswithspecialneeds

20.01.2022 We were invited to UMA's Makkah to Madinah - A Journey of a Lifetime Exhibition today that allowed participants to experience the life of the Prophet PBUH and re-live the major events of his life. What a truly amazing experience it was! UMA's staff were so accommodating, friendly and hospitable. Our participants really enjoyed themselves and felt privileged to have been invited. We look forward to visiting UMA again. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #UMA #MakkahtoMadinah #inclusive #disabilityfriendly #muslimswithspecialneeds

19.01.2022 Last month Shaima and her family were treated to a Bulldogs game by brother Osman Karolia and Abu Zayd. Shaima enjoyed the experience so much and couldn't wait to tell everyone at the centre about it and how hospitable the brothers were. The brothers went above and beyond kindly gifting her a new Bulldogs jersey and getting Hazem El Masri to send her a personalised video Birthday message. Shaima has a special place in the hearts of everyone who meets her! She was involved in a car accident in November 2016 where she sustained serious head injuries. Her family were informed that she would be bed ridden but Alhamdulillah with persistence, dedication and of course Dua, she has managed to prove everyone wrong. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #Bulldogs #braininjury #alhamdulillah

18.01.2022 Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the quiet weeks that followed allowed us to embark on a special project. We are so excited to finally reveal this completed project! Thank you to Brothers In Need for inviting Western Grammar School in February to our centre. During their visit Western Grammar generously donated $2000 which helped initiate the purchase and installation of our inground trampoline. This has been such a wise investment because the participants have been having the... best time on it. For once we don’t need to encourage them to exercise because they ask to use it every day. The laughter and joy on their faces is priceless. We would also like to thank an anonymous sister & her family and Brothers-in-need for contributing to courtyard transformation around the trampoline. Jazakoum Allahu Khairan to everyone involved and a special thanks to Ziad Masri for donating his time, skills and expertise to complete this project. - - - #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #donations #brothersinneed #fitness #goodtimes #trampoline See more

17.01.2022 We’re always excited to find inclusive parks! We were able to hold our first picnic for the year before COVID-19 and as the restrictions ease, we can’t wait to slowly resume all our planned activities for the rest of 2020. The new change of routine has been difficult for some participants so we’re looking forward to bringing back some normality to their regular routines. We’re always looking for new inclusive facilities to try. Let us know if you have any suggestions?

17.01.2022 Last week during our pre-Ramadan celebrations we decided to dip dates in melted chocolate because who doesn't love chocolate?! Participants then decorated their dates with their choice of a range of pretty sprinkles. We also decorated 3D cutout lanterns and participants were delighted to see their lanterns placed all over the centre as part of our Ramadan decorations for 2021. The best part was that they got to do all of this while rocking their favourite pyjamas! #myhomedisabilityservices #MHDS #ramadan2021 #ramadancelebrations #ramadanmubarak #sharingthecare #disabilityawareness #muslimswithspecialneeds #muslimswithdisabilities #disability #disabilityaustralia #ndisprovider #ndisproviders #ndisprovidersydney #adultswithspecialneeds #pyjamaparty

17.01.2022 Yesterday we had a lovely group of year 8 girls from Unity Grammar visit our centre. It's always a pleasure to meet students with great ambition and to know our future will be in great hands! The girls joined participants for our morning exercise sessions and had a great time exploring our new in-ground trampoline. The students also treated participants to some delicious waffles. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #NDIS #unitygrammar #ourfuture #alhamdulillah #waffles #trampoline

16.01.2022 A special thanks to Osman Karolia for organising this event last week; spreading awareness and bringing on board generous sponsors. A very special thank you to Salima Hawli Karolia who has an infectious smile and is loved by all participants. Thank you to the teachers and students of Unity Grammar who are always confidently interacting with and engaging participants. We can’t forget Abu Salim Allouche for his bbq skills and Kahil Meats Bass Hill for the delicious chicken & sa...usages. It was a pleasure to see Abu Zayad Sakar from Brotherhood Boxn Club again and to meet Rashays Rami Ykmour and his lovely wife Shannon. Rami & Shannon surprised everyone with delicious chicken nuggets and chips plus an array of yummy desserts. It is always exciting to meet new people and find out about their backgrounds. There are so many kind-hearted, humble people in our community that love to give back to their community. What fantastic role models Unity Grammar students have to look up to. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #unitygrammar #kahilmeats #rashays #muslimswithspecialneeds

12.01.2022 To celebrate the day of Arafah we decided to reenact parts of Hajj today while Talbiyat Al Hajj was being played. It was befitting this year because no-one outside of Saudi Arabia could take part in Hajj. This emotional reenactment allowed everyone to get into the spirit of Eid ul Adha. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #labaykallahumalabayk #eid2020 #hajj2020 #creativemuslims #diyeid #muslimcraft #EidUlAdha

11.01.2022 Participants always look forward to seeing all the new and familiar faces that enter our doors during our Brothers InNeed monthly visits. We would like to thank Dean and his team for bringing awareness to our program and normalising the inclusion of people with special needs into the wider community. Also a special thanks to all the volunteers who attend every month and to all the sponsors of every visit! This month Sisters in Need as part of their regular activities organised personalised bracelets which participants were eager to show off once completed. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #brothersinneed #sistersinneed #islamicreliefaustralia

04.01.2022 Our weekly cooking activity is a favourite at MHDS. This activity allows participants to practice their motor skills, it builds on their existing skills, it increases their confidence, and helps them find their voice when they make suggestions for the cooking menu each week. Participants are also enjoying grocery shopping with a purpose each week. Being completely independent is not always possible for all our participants however with help of dedicated staff participants are able to prepare and enjoy a new meal each week. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #cooking #skillbuilding #NDIS #muslimswithspecialneeds

04.01.2022 During this month's Brothers In Need visit, brother Nour kindly hosted a barbeque for staff and participants. We took the opportunity and had a mini Eid party where participants painted some cute Eid cookies, played a Eid quiz lolly hunt and pinned the tail on the sheep. Participants also enjoyed the company of our Islamic Relief Australia visitors who ensured all participants were smiling by being attentive! We would also like to thank Brothers in Need for providing dessert; El-Reda Butcher Chesterhill and Good Fruit Auburn for all their generous contributions to our parties. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #brothersinneed #islamicreliefau #eid2020 #partygames #muslimswithspecialneeds

04.01.2022 Our newest investment has been a hit with our participants and even our staff couldn't resist trying it. The mobility scooter has given participants with an intellectual capacity a new learning opportunity. We have been quite impressed with some participant's ability to maneuver the scooter on their own. Participants have been enjoying driving it throughout our long hallways and spacious courtyards even when being assisted. We will be using this opportunity to reinforce diffe...rent road rules particularly for participants who are able to drive it independently and could one day invest in one themselves. Keep an eye out as we will be posting our first ever Instagram Reel where our mobility scooter will also be making an appearance. Turn on your notifications because this is one reel you don’t want to miss out on! #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #muslimswithspecialneeds #specialneedsfamilies #ndis #ndisprovider #disabilityawareness #sydney #australia #sharingthecare #disabilityaustralia #disabilityau #muslimswithdisabilities #praderwillisyndrome #praderwilli #autismadults #globaldelay

02.01.2022 We are always in awe of the endless generosity and kindness of our community. Today we had a brother (who prefers to stay anonymous) bump into our participants at ZONE BOWLING so he invited them to The Woods Pantry where he had the tables filled with an assortment of foods, fruits, desserts and drinks. May Allah SWT reward the brother immensely and bless him and his family with great health. His act of kindness was greatly appreciated by our participants as evident by their huge smiles upon returning to the day program. #MHDS #myhomedisabilityservices #bowling #thewoodspantry #muslimswithspecialneeds #kindnessiscontagious #alhamdulilah
