23.01.2022 Finally set up my FB page for My Nutritionist! Looking forward to posting some great Nutrition tips and suggestions for improving your health.

18.01.2022 Although these Catalyst programmes on the GUT were a few weeks ago, if you haven't seen them then go to http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/catalyst/SC1302H005S00 to view Part 1. Fascinating stuff that all natural therapists have known for years but now it is being acknowledged by the scientific world. FIBRE, GOOD BACTERIA, WHOLEFOODS - all important for gut health which in turns affect your Brain, immune health, skin, weight..and the list goes on. Poor gut health is the cause of so many health conditions so take good care of it.

18.01.2022 Another reason to avoid processed food (as if you need more reasons!!)

17.01.2022 Yummy healthy dessert!!!

16.01.2022 What Natural Practitioners have known for years but finally the message is getting out there

15.01.2022 What more can I say??

15.01.2022 Have you or your kids been hit by colds, coughs and flu's over winter? Did you have to take antibiotics? Then do ONE thing and take a good quality probiotic + eat foods naturally rich in pre & probiotics like kefir yoghurts! Antibiotics kill ALL bacteria in your gut including the good stuff & it takes 4 YRS for your friendly bacteria to come back from JUST 1 COURSE of antibiotics! With 80% of your immune system in your gut, it's pretty important to look after it to prevent reoccurring illnesses. So grab a good probiotic and start enjoying good quality natural yoghurts, kefir, fermented foods, miso...all rich in good bacteria for a happy gut.

15.01.2022 GREENMEDINFO.COM is an evidence based website that only provides information for health and Nutrition where there are good quality studies to back up their claims. I subscribe to this website because I know the information is valid and trustworthy. FLAXSEED is a wonderful source of Omega 3 and provides so many health benefits. Include in your diet daily - add the oil or meal to your smoothies, porridge, salad dressings, yoghurts.....remember to store in the fridge to stop rancidity.

14.01.2022 Good Nutrition helps to keep wrinkles at bay! http://tv.greenmedinfo.com/8-ways-naturally-prevent-wrinkle

10.01.2022 What is all the fuss with SUPERFOODS?? A superfood is a food which is nutrient dense with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and other beneficial substances all in one food. Over the years there has been lots of hype over Kale, Cacao, Acai & Goji Berries which can be expensive. However, you can keep it simple and cheap by choosing the good old favourites such as Broccoli, Blueberries (in season), Wild Salmon, Kiwi fruit, Raw nuts, Quinoa or Oats and plain unsweetened yoghurt, and green leafy veges. Organic is obviously best but if that is not possible just remember to wash fruits and veges well before eating (use some white vinegar).

10.01.2022 Harris Farm have started a great initiative to stop wastage with slightly imperfect fruit and veges. They have a section called 'Imperfect Fruit and Veges" which sell at more than half the price per kilo than regular "perfects". Tried the Granny Smith apples today and they tasted great (remember to wash the pesticides off with vinegar and water). Zucchini's are larger than normal, and I couldn't even tell what was wrong with the eggplants!!! Great way to save some $ and stop food being thrown out!

09.01.2022 Great recipe for Crispy Skin Salmon. Try to find wild salmon to increase the nutritional benefits of Omega 3.

08.01.2022 Although it is finally getting warmer and spring is here Yaaayy! Here is a great recipe for BONE BROTH or stock which can be used medicinally as a healthy drink or added to recipes that require chicken stock. The health benefits of bone broth are numerous and when home-made, the benefits are even greater. Heal the stomach and aid digestion. Helps fight the infection that causes colds and flu (remember the book 'Chicken soup for the Soul'?) Can reduce joint pain. Can help repair bones and make them stronger. Good for skin, nails, hair, and teeth. http://www.theyummylife.com/recipes/print/343

08.01.2022 Femented foods are the best way to keep your gut healthy.

03.01.2022 TUMERIC - one of the best spices for a range of health benefits. There are countless high quality studies now showing the benefits of Curcumin which is the active ingredient in Tumeric. Add this wonderful spice to as many meals as possible to reap the benefits - anti-inflammatory, reduces pain, cardio protective, anti-cancer, antioxidant, neuroprotective and the list goes on. One recent study has found Tumeric is excellent for liver disease.

02.01.2022 How to enjoy our BERRY SMOOTHIES without the risk of Hep A!! The frozen berry dilemma! Ok, we now all know that frozen berries do not get sourced from Australia. They never have been and probably never will due to cost factors. Very sad to think we can grow strawberries, raspberries, blueberries etc here in Australia but not for the frozen berry market due to cheap imports. So how do we all continue to enjoy our berry smoothies?? I have just made a strawberry smooth...ie using fresh Australian grown strawberries and bananas. I worked out the cost was only slightly higher than using frozen strawberries imported from China or Chile. I added ice to the smoothie to make up for not using frozen berries and it tasted delicious. It might not be as convenient as frozen fruit but less chance of contamination. Remember to wash the strawberries before eating as they still are sprayed with pesticides. Organic is still the best option but can be costly and hard to source. See more
