25.01.2022 Whilst we know that upright positions for labour & birth are ideal to assist baby move into an optimal position for birth, for a shorter first and second stage ...labour, reduced need for epidurals, fewer abnormal heart rate patterns & a lower incidence of instrumental birth as well as few c-sections & episiotomies, & this is SUPER important for anyone approaching birth to be aware of, this hashtag is more about the need for our women, couples, families, birth workers & anyone that cares about our future to #standupforbirth . 1 in 3 women worldwide report their birth as traumatic & studies show that when a birthing person isn’t informed & educated on their options, best evidence, their rights & how they can advocate for themselves to ensure their care provider/s are working in collaboration with them for optimal outcomes rather than controlling or leading the birth down a road of unnecessary intervention or making decisions based on all the possible overall risks rather than looking at each birthing person individually, their chance of having a traumatic experience is much higher. Its not just up to midwives & birthworkers to stand up & say #enough , it’s also up the parents to #standupforbirth , for their birth & all the births that will come after theirs that deserve better. 12.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to mums, mums to be, grandmother’s, great grandmothers, step mothers, foster mums, fur mummy’s. It is a different one for us all in isolation. So though our hearts may feel a little sad today, keep in mind that We can still love one another from afar and be grateful that we have those wonderful people in our lives to love and who love us. We will all be able to see each other and hug each other again soon. Being healthy and alive ensures that we will be able to see and hug each other again. Love to all mumma’s today.
