06.01.2022 Too often when we see a vacant, cleared block, we lament the loss of what was there originally rather than feeling positive about what will be constructed to replace it. Too often, there is very good reason for this sentiment. At My Architect, we believe that what we design should make a positive contribution, not only for our clients, but for the surrounding streetscape, the neighbourhood character and the local community. ... It should consider the context, scale, massing, style, setbacks and materials of what is present in the area already. It should understand something of the areas history and not look like its been plonked in place. Instead of using up every last centimetre of a site, a new home should have breathing space around it. Whatever we replace the original house with, it should surpass it in design and build quality. Our houses are not just places to live. They reflect and shape who we are.
