Wollongong - Facilitating Family Visits For children in care, maintaining birth family contact is valuable in helping them to maintain a sense of connectedness and identity with their birth family. This full day face to face training workshop discusses and provides education and information about what family visits should be and how to navigate this to make it the best possible experience for the children in their care. 12.01.2022 FACE TO FACE WORKSHOP IN CAMPBELLTOWN ** CULTURAL CONNECTIONS TRAINING ** Places still available - register SOON!... 9:00AM - 4:00PM Thursday 15th October 2020 This workshop will be facilitated by the wonderful people at ABSEC who will equip you with the skills and knowledge to support the implementation of Cultural Care Plans and Cultural Support Plans for the Aboriginal children in your care. Culture is central to the long-term safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people. Every Aboriginal child has the right to maintain their cultural identity. Preserving contact with family, kin, community and Country has been shown to help Aboriginal children through psychological and emotional development. It is a requirement in NSW that all Aboriginal children and young people in out-of-home care must have a Cultural Care Plan and a Cultural Support Plan. The goal of this workshop is to assist you as the carer to support the implementation of these plans, resulting in stronger, healthier and happier children and young people.
