25.01.2022 Glazing agent / Emulsifier 471 added to your fresh fruit and veggies Whilst we battle avoiding additives in our supermarket products, it is set to become even harder for us! FSANZ are seeking calls for submissions on using an existing additive E471 Mono and Di Glycerides on our fresh fruit and vegetables.... Their are a few issues with this: It encourages long transport times instead of looking at localised distribution of food so that food can get to people faster. this additive can't be washed off this additive is exempt from labelling, you will not know it is on your fruit and veg we don't know how this emulsifier has been derived, it is often derived from Palm oil, can be GMO or animal origin. In this particular submission, it has been confirmed it isn't GMO and isn't of animal origin. However, there is a lack of transparency. Approval of this additive as a glazing agent on our fruit and veg opens the door for GMO and Animal derived emulsifiers to be used also. thanks to Frankie from Additive free kids for initiating this petition

Sooo variable, you can whip up beautiful dinner, soup or snack You will set example for your kids that food comes from the kitchen not package on supermarket shelf Fresh produce=home cooked meal=comforting smell of home Support farmers and small local businesses. This your butcher, around the corner veggie shop, etc It’s cheaper to eat this way Fresh produce comes in natural packaging, packed by the greatest manufacturer who’s got your health at heart- our Mother Nature if you agree

10.01.2022 Food for thought We are living big, in times of plenty, and yet we are the sickest we have ever been. 4 major diseases of the western world are heart disease, autoimmunity, cancer and type 2 diabetes. ... Heart disease is over the roof where at the beginning of 20th century was only a minor problem. Cancer is a major issue, everyone knows someone suffering from this terrible disease, right? Where at the beginning of 20th century only 3% of population was affected. Obesity has become globesity around 60% of adults and staggering 30% of kids are obese! Autoimmune disease is no 2 cause of mortality! 3/4 of population and 40% of kids have 1 or more chronic disease ! Type 2 diabetes has increased 300% in last three decades Current generation, for the first time in history is expected to die younger than the one before. Scary ! WHY? What has happened? Has something changed in our diet? Tom Naughton summarise it well If you could pack human history into one year, we’ve been farming and eating grains only since about yesterday, that’s when we became shorter and fatter. We only started consuming processed vegetable oils about 10min ago which is when heard disease became number one killer. And yet the expertscame to obvious conclusion to eat more grains and vegetable oils, to fear fat including saturated animal fat which was essential part of our natural traditional diet. They convinced us to eat food that we didn’t eat for 99% of our entire existence and fear food on which we have thrived and evolved into sophisticated human beings. That’s hard to digest but we all have a choice what we put on our plates. Knowledge is the power! Be curious, question, research. That’s what I do, too! And put some real food on your plates - meat, fish, eggs, fruit and veggies, nuts and seeds, offals (yep!) butter, lard, ghee, forget low-fat and no-fat, process packaged food



06.01.2022 Grains great for decoration not digestion! How so? We all heard about healthy whole grains and their fabulous fibre and minerals and vitamins content, right? Even our health authorities encourage us to eat 6-11 servings of grains in one day. You may also think we have been eating grains for millennia! Well, humans started to eat grains about 10K years ago with the start of agriculture. Which is, compared to our entire existence on earth , only 0.5% of the time. Very short... time for our bodies to adopt to the effects of grains.And this was only in times of desperation, when our ancestors were threatened by hunger. They also figured grains must be prepared certain way to be at least somewhat digestible- fermented,soaked and cooked. Since we started eating grains our health declined- archaeological findings confirm that grain eating populations developed tooth decay, iron deficiency, loss of bone structure. What is the problem? Humble grain wants to protect itself and survive in digestion tract of animals,to germinate. It contains proteins like WGA, Gliadin (protein in gluten) which are indigestible or partially digestible by humans, therefore act as toxins damaging our intestines and gut flora which leads to leaky gut, autoimmune disease, allergies, asthma, eczema, disturb our immune system, cause overgrowth of bad bacteria. They bind to opiate receptors in brain triggering increased appetite, making us eat more.hello muffin top! They are high in carbs which convert to sugar causing spikes in blood sugar levels leading to type 2 diabetes. They also contain phytates which protect grains against pests but for us it binds minerals causing nutrition deficiency. And what about the healthy whole grains fibre? It is a cellulose fibre we can’t digest which is damaging our colon- making holes, our body response is to produce mucus as a protection which by the way helps keep things moving But we are much better off to have fibre from veggies and fruit. Grains are not made for humans and we eat A LOT of them! Oats, Musli, toast for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, pasta for dinner, muffins, crackers in between. Sounds familiar?
