24.01.2022 Happy Tuesday! I see we have some new followers on here so I thought I should re-introduce myself. Hi I'm Kiyoshi, Japanese travel and hospitality sales & marketing professional.... Three things I love about what I do: 1) Planning process of holiday making 2) Helping bridge cultural gaps 3) Meeting and connecting with people I have created facebook group "Japan's Best-Kept Secrets" where you can post and share your experiences in Japan. Or just find travel ideas for inspirations! If you are not a member yet, join us for this fun group https://www.facebook.com/groups/225986184952401/ See you there!

16.01.2022 Baseball was imported to Japan in 1872 and customized to mesh with Japanese culture. America has a ‘dry’ business mentality the ability of the individual is everything, Japan’s ‘wet’ group mentality can be exemplified by seeing the players as samurai warriors. There is little in common in baseball in the two countries. Let’s find out how different

14.01.2022 We all can learn a thing or two from the 20 year old’s serene demeanour from Naomi Osaka who managed to achieve something huge and yet still remain kind and gracious, humble and rooted.

13.01.2022 You have spent so much of your time and money for your dream holiday. When you get there you get disappointed because too crowded. You cannot view landmarks because of the crowds Wildlife is scared away Many of its local residents are fed up with tourists... These are all signs of over-tourism #overtourism To avoid it, two things to think about are the place and the time. Of course, if you really want to meander through the Fushimi Inari Shrine, then you have no choice but to visit Kyoto. But what you can do is to visit it outside of peak season. This is more pleasant for you, less stressful for residents, and may even save you quite a bit of money, too. Japan is a surprisingly large country, and many of its cities are not at all crowed with tourists. Better still, head out into the village and mountains for a real glimpse of the country away from the mainstream hordes. You’ll have a much more realistic insight into daily life in Japan, thus authentic holiday experience. I have a facebook group Japan’s Best-Kept Secrets where you can discuss all your concerns. We have many Japanese travel experts in the group who can help you. So join the group now https://www.facebook.com/groups/225986184952401/

12.01.2022 Happy Friday! Did you know how many Aussies travel to Japan on holiday? More than 440,000 Aussies visited Japan in 2017, a 12 per cent increase on 2016. Ever thought why us Japanese may think differently than the rest of you? As a Japanese national living in Australia for nearly 30 years, I’ve discovered why you Aussies think we are inscrutable! So I’ve decided to create a facebook group that gives people interested in Japan and the Japanese a unique insight into our cultur...e. So why don’t you join the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/225986184952401/ and pick up some Japanese culture!

12.01.2022 I run a hotel and tourism marketing consultancy and have travelled to Japan on business with my Aussie clients on more than 30 occasions. I know what works and what does not in terms of bleisure activities. One of the most popular leisure activities during the business trip is a dinner option and Japan offers many choices when it comes to what to eat. Instead of sticking to one eatery where you may not like food, ambience or service, I always take them on a progressive dinne...r. We normally start with a couple of Yakitori (chicken skewers) with a beer as appetizer, move on to a seafood restaurant for fresh sashimi with a sip of sake. Next is yet another Izakaya (Japanese pub) for more substantial food and of course more drink. This way, you can learn about local foods, people and culture fairly quickly. Most importantly it offers my clients an opportunity to experience Japanese culture casually as well as to observe Japanese people at leisure. Japan’s key attraction for foreign tourists remains its cultural authenticity. For Aussies Japan represents a cultural adventure in both traditional as well as modern aspects of its bustling society. That makes Japan one of the most ideal and desired destinations for international bleisure travellers. #bleisure

09.01.2022 Why is the role of Geisha so unique, existing no where else in all the world? In Japan the beautiful and enigmatic Geisha represents one of the most iconic traditions in the country. Geisha continued to evolve as occupation, but the role of geisha has fundamentally remained unchanged for many years to entertain their customers. These women are unique in the sense that they are true masters of hospitality. They are skilled in various traditional performances of art and the...y know how to entertain a guest and at the same time maintain the strictest confidentiality of anything deemed private. Due to this total confidentiality maintained within any relationship with a geisha, the Japanese male can display their emotions; emotions that would be unheard of in the outside world. For the Japanese the outside world is about the collective and not the individual where personal needs and desires are totally overridden by societal requirements of homogeneity and harmony. This even extends to one’s own wife and family where a level of decorum must always be maintained. This concept of the hidden that is inside, and the face presented to the outer world has made the role of geisha both essential and unique. #cultureofjapan #geisha

09.01.2022 The studies and surveys reported 45% of young Japanese women, and over 25% of men, were not interested in or despised sexual contact. Here are five possible reasons why?

07.01.2022 Humble and Serene Naomi Osaka Japan celebrated Naomi Osaka’s historic victory over Serena Williams in the US open final on Saturday. The crowd was firmly in favour of Williams. As loud whoops filled the stadium for the clear crowd favourite, all Osaka did was keeping her head down, and in the game. Rattling off winner after winner, even if Osaka herself was a bit rattled. She did not show it. Perhaps part of it was her Japanese heritage or maybe she’s born with it or maybe it...’s all just Naomi. All that said, I can see in Naomi her deeply rooted Japanese cultural values and virtues that emphasise modesty and humility. Japanese culture is well known for its expectations of gracious social behaviour and etiquette. These norms are very important to the Japanese. Their politeness also extends to a deep sense of humility in the face of praise and accomplishment. To outsiders, this humility can sometimes be perceived as being fake or bizarre reaction such as in apologising for her win. Naomi looks very natural and authentic. She has demonstrated consideration and restraint in victory, even though it could have been well within normal celebratory behaviour we regularly see in other fields of competition to do otherwise.

05.01.2022 Japan is a major business destinations for Westerners, and there are increasing opportunities here for Bleisure, from urban stays over weekends to extended tours to often fascinating local regions. Now let’s explore abundant options available for you to consider!

03.01.2022 Experience Seekers Are you thinking of visiting Japan on holiday? You do not know where to start? Some frequently asked questions I get... Do I need to speak Japanese? Is it hard to get around like trains and subways? Is Japan expensive? When is the best time to go? Or more commonly Is there anything I must see or do in Japan? All depend on your interest and expectations. My advice would be to try to go somewhere besides Tokyo, otherwise, you run the risk of basing all your impressions of the country on a single city. If you have no idea, then here is a list of destinations I recommend. This blog on the link below was written originally for business travellers but good for holiday makers too. This is also my own bucket list https://talkaboutjapan.blog/14-most-amazing-places-to-visi/ If I can assist planning for your dream trip, contact me.
