After losing my husband to suicide, I studied art therapy to consolidate what I already knew about the benefits of having a creative hobby in your life. After almost 30 years, teaching art in schools, I now apply my skills and knowledge to create workshops and programs to teach adults how to nurture their mental health with art. I'm based in Manly West, Brisbane, and while I am currently unable to teach face-to-face classes, I do offer individual mentoring via phone or zoom. I am also going to be launching my first online program very soon to support people living with dementia and their carers because I know first hand how art is both fun and healing. Art helped me through my darkest days and I know my students are using the skills I have taught them during this lockdown. I teach adults HOW to make art, but most importantly, WHY to make art. It's more about the process and mindset than the finished product, but if you're going to use art as your therapy, you may as well learn some skills at the same time so you can love the outcome too.
