23.01.2022 Let’s get clear about this anxiety thing . . . So anxiety is a totally normal reaction to danger.... It’s a self-preservation mechanism that your mind has developed in order to keep you safe and alive. If you're feeling a bit anxious it's likely that your body’s automatic fight-or-flight response has been triggered due to a perceived threat. This threat could be an ACTUAL danger, or you may just feel pressured when facing a challenging situation, perhaps a job interview, an exam, a presentation or a first date. Anxiety isn’t necessarily a monstrously bad thing; it's an emotion that’s designed to keep you alive. It helps you remain alert and focused, then spurs you to action, and motivates you to solve problems. However... If your anxiety overwhelms you, and your worries and fears constantly interfere with your relationships and daily lifeyou may have crossed the line from normal levels of anxiety into the realm of an ‘anxiety disorder’. Anxiety disorders usually consist of a group of conditions so symptoms will vary from person to person. You might experience intense anxiety attacks that strike without warning or apparent cause, while another person may panic at the specific thought of talking to people at a party. Someone may struggle with a fear of driving, or intrusive negative thoughts. While another may live in a constant state of stress, worrying about everything. This intense fear or worry is very likely out of proportion to the situation at hand. Anxiety disorders prevent you from living the life you want and are extremely common, you are not alone. They're among the most common global mental health issuesand they ARE very treatable. Once you get an understanding of your anxiety disorder, there are many steps you can take to reduce the symptoms and regain control of your thoughts and actions. If you're finding it difficult to manage your emotions, struggling with self-love, anxiety and/or depression and its restricting you from enjoying life... click the link in my bio to get more info about how we can arrange a FREE online chat or phone call, and work together. Tag a friend too, let’s spread a little relief.

23.01.2022 Have you ever experienced anything similar to what’s going on in the world these days? I know I haven’t. Natural disasters, escalating conflict, solar minimum, famine, disease, unemployment, pandemic, isolation dare I say ‘what’s next’? Throughout all of this we’re encouraged to focus on staying fit, healthy and mentally well but not necessarily told ‘how’ to get started or maintain momentum. 23.01.2022 If truth be told... . . . so little of life is ever within our control to begin with.... Plans change, futures are unwritten, health of our loved ones is in their own hands. Control is an illusion. A magical concept, that allows us to believe that there is some semblance of order in the world, that it isn’t all chaotic and unpredictable and terrifying to some. Once the veil lifts, it is revealed how futile our attempts at overall control really are. But, this ramps up fear within the anxious mind that control seeks to keep at bay. And, as perhaps you’ve begin to notice, the tighter you cling to that which you’re attempting to control, the greater YOU suffer. However... Two things remain. Two things that with practice can be brought within your control: Your thoughts Your actions Loosen your attempted grip and release the white-knuckles of control. When overwhelm, despair or fear creeps in, hms those two things, and ask yourself: Why am I thinking this, right now? What actions do I choose to take, right now? The opposite of outright control isn't chaos: it can actually be much more peaceful than you think. What are you attempting to control? How's that working for you?

19.01.2022 Many of us have experienced enhanced levels of anxiousness throughout this pandemic isolation. Some, however, have told me how they’ve felt much calmer. All of us are different and we have our own journey when it comes to mental health. My clients have noticed how everyone else seems really stressed, worried and having difficulty in isolation. Whereas for them, this feels like an ideal situation; staying at home, relaxing and having everything available online. [ 611 more words ] https://www.mynd.works/is-anxiety-increasing-during-isolat/

18.01.2022 Is your anxiety decreasing during isolation? . . . Many of us have experienced enhanced levels of anxiousness throughout this pandemic isolation.... Some, however, have told me how they’ve felt much calmer Read my latest blog post (link in bio) to discover how isolation is reducing my clients’ anxiety. I’ve also included 10 ways to reduce Covid-19 anxiety and links to free downloads in the article. Is Covid-19 increasing your health anxiety? Are restrictions beginning to lift near you? How do you feel about that?

17.01.2022 Of course I can... . . . Had the pleasure of showing this one how enjoyable and easy it is to be guided into an hypnotic state this evening.... After watching a @derrenbrown show on youtube, (thank you Derren) Zia stood before me and stated 'I bet you can't hypnotise me'. #challengeaccepted Less than 30 seconds later, she was trying to open up her 'imaginatively' glued down eyelids - with no success... ...until I clicked my fingers and then magically the eyes sprang open. We then tried the good old steel-bar arm, which simply cannot be bent even when tried with one's hardest might. I might pop up a fun little imagination exercise here on insta, for you all to enjoy. Let's see how great your imagination is.

15.01.2022 I don't last long enough. . . . I had an @insighttimer listener send me a message.... 'Richard, your mentalfloss meditations are so damn good, I get bummed out because they're not longer.' ~ Jasmine Well, seeing as though you put it that way! I've created some longer versions of my #meditation processes, and I will be revisiting the mentalfloss topics and extending them to satisfy the discerning listeners. As you wish. For those that haven't heard any of my free audios, pop on over to #insighttimer (grab the free app) and get free access to over 50,000 meditations. Are you still here?

15.01.2022 Goals. Goals. Goals. We all have goals of some kind some long-term dreams, some temporary and some things you want to get done today. Whether it’s getting out of bed earlier, getting a promotion, setting up a business, losing weight, exercising regularly, finding a partner or stopping smoking, achieving our goals takes time and effort. I don't want to burst your bubble, but, most of the time, there is no easy way to achieve goals.... https://www.mynd.works/8-ways-to-set-goals-and-achieve-them/

13.01.2022 Welcome bruvva... . . . Just a quick shout out to @russellbrand who just became a fellow meditation teacher on @insighttimer... Here's hoping your huge public presence helps lots of people on this free meditation app. #russellbrand #insighttimer #meditation

08.01.2022 It's a common assumption that self-esteem and self-confidence are the same things. Self-esteem is commonly defined as how an individual estimates themselves. Those who answer ‘NO’ to ‘do I like myself’ or ‘do I deserve to be happy’ are often suffering from a lack of self-esteem. [ 1,320 more word ] https://www.mynd.works/do-you-have-low-self-esteem/

08.01.2022 The most dreaded part of any anxiety sufferer’s treatment and the technique I most often hear being used by traditional psychology is... EXPOSURE THERAPY. [ 888 more words ] https://www.mynd.works/imagine-no-anxiety/

08.01.2022 I don't know where it comes from... . . . Rumination and procrastination happen when you're feeling fearful, anxious, overwhelmed and 'not good enough'.... Sometimes you just need a little reminder that 'You Got This'. Sometimes, by dipping your toe into the pool, you'll discover that the water isn't really as cold as you expected it to be. Here's a little feedback I received from Adrienne, a listener from the USA. "I sometimes dread starting work. I love my job and am thankful for it. I don’t know where the resistance comes from but this #mentalfloss was just what I needed to dive in." If you're facing some blocks that are stopping you from taking action - have a quick listen to my 'Be More Productive' mentalfloss track. It's FREE on @insighttimer Here's the direct link... insig.ht/gm_18553 ...and if you'd like some help to discover where the block is coming from, and how to shift it... drop me a DM or an email. #yougotthis

07.01.2022 That moment... . . . I realised I'd been recording too much today.... I'd just been leaning in, and speaking into my studio microphone, to a client for 15 minutes... before noticing that I had my phone headphones plugged into my ears. #duh Is it the weekend yet? Do you have any tell-tale moments like this, or is it just me?

05.01.2022 I'm back and ready to rattle Anxiety's cage again. I anxiety keeps you from living your life to the fullest, RSVP to this online event. I'll see you out there!

05.01.2022 Chip off the old block. . . . My young un Zia has just shown me her picture of Uluru.... Rather than just draw it, she wanted to make it different and magical. That's ma girl! I used to love art when I was young, centuries ago. I ended up making a good career out of it. But rarely have the opportunity to scribble nowadays. Wait a minute, that sounds like an excuse doesn't it... #slap From now on, I'll allow myself to have a bit of fun, drawing and scribbling and doodling... Because it's allowed. Ask yourself 'What did I used to enjoy doing, that I don't do anymore?' Go on, do it again. Make yourself smile. I'd love to read your comments.

01.01.2022 Of course there are exceptions. . . . Occasionally, I'll receive feedback on my recordings, as a 1-out-of-5 star rating, using one word such as 'worthless'.... This particular comment was sandwiched between 50+ other 'amazing' comments, but none the less it captured my attention. Someone, somewhere, listening to my free meditations, must be hurting, and needs to lash out at those who are offering some free help. If you're hurting, instead of projecting that out onto others, come chat to me. I know what hurting feels like, first hand, but now I'm trained (and seasoned with experience) to alleviate that suffering and help you reboot your mojo. If I wasn't confident in my abilities, and wasn't flowing with a deeply anchored self esteem, I may have taken offence or doubted myself . Nowadays... I just want to help EVEN MORE I guess the moral of this post is to let others' subjective opinions flow from your mind like water flows off a rain coat. Unless they offer specific constructive criticism, from which you can enjoy learning and growing and becoming even better at being you. Have a wonderful weekend all, I know I will. To those who need it.
