23.01.2022 My lovely client, Dionne, kindly sent me some pics of her daughter's bedroom makeover. Dionne has put a lot of effort into making her daughter's bedroom fit for a "parisian princess", and I am thrilled to have been able to help her achieve her goals. Here i have used Annie Sloan chalk paint in Antoinette (clear wax) and Graphite (clear and dark wax) and some small touches of silver wax for highlights. There were 9 pieces of furniture in total (two bedsides, 1 dressin...g table with mirror, bedhead, two stools and two pinboard frames. Dionne cleverly made the artwork and shelves on walls Thank you so much for the photos Dionne #furnituremakeover #anniesloan #chalkpaint #upcycle #reuse

21.01.2022 Hello everyone, I hope you are keeping safe, healthy and comfortable in these trying times. I am having my good and bad days as i'm sure many of you are also I'd like to thank all of you who gave me encouragement to keep going with this style of mixed media. It is so much fun and i've definiately got the bug now. :D and I just found out this method is called "Bricolage". I created this piece as a gift for friends who were getting married this April (wedding now sadly ...postponed due to corona virus restrictions). Stay well everyone !! ***Bricolage [bree-coal-ahj]Â is a visual arts term used to describe art that is created from an assemblage of everyday objects and/or items that happen to be at hand during the artists need for creative expression

21.01.2022 A very different but totally intuitive painting almost finished .... yeah i know, a little bit weird but i kinda like it ;) What do you think? Does it make you feel a certain way ? To me, it conveys the juggling act of life, trying to look on the bright side and wanting everyone to be happy. I'd love to hear your views xx

20.01.2022 I got a little boost today after a very challenging few days. My watercolour "Saplings in The Mist" won the Monthly Art Challenge at Armadale Society of Artists. The theme was blue and the subject was trees These are the comments received by Judge, Catherine Kelley (award winning artist). This is my favourite,... "The freshness that it gives with minimum colours along with the splash of blue gives the tree depth, plus I love the misty value to the distance...well done!! ps. my hubby is confused by this painting and thinks its a bit of a mess

19.01.2022 To all my friends in Perth, I hope you are all keeping cool in this heatwave. Great time to relax and energise if you can make the time xxoo Hubby Tim, and i were planning to escape in our van for a few days, but due to the heat and bungles with our van door, it is not happening right now. I don't think it would have been too much fun anyway in this heat. ps. photo is of a sculpture i did a long time ago. Still happily at home in our garden :)

12.01.2022 This little bistro set was in need of some love and attention and my client wanted a slightly weathered beachy look on the timber. I gave all the pieces a good sand, repaired a worn out screw, sanded and refreshed with a few dry coats of white chalk painted. After it was all dry, i sealed with a clear top coat.

08.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter that is filled with plenty of love and happiness xxx

06.01.2022 Working some chalk paint magic on this cute bedhead. Half way there This is part of my recent commissioned bedroom suite. The little girl was over the moon when she saw her first pieces, she loves them and that's what it's all about for me :D her mum sent me a video of her response and I was in tears to think how much joy she received from seeing her new furniture and how much she appreciated it. It can be hard work sometimes but I definitely get a big reward at the end. Job satisfaction plus

06.01.2022 "Lucid Dreams" Acrylic and Ink on canvas. I really enjoyed creating the textures in this. To me it represents someone quietly letting their imagination flow in a lucid dream.

05.01.2022 As the sun sets for the last time in 2020, i would like to wish all my followers, friends and family a wonderful New Year !!! I've been reflecting on this last year and oh what a strange and challenging one it was, and i'm sure for you too. I've had many struggles in my personal life this year and i am happy to say, many of them, i have overcome. I won't dwell on those for now because more wonderful situations are to be celebrated :) :) I had a near miss with an aggressive ...cancerous tumour earlier this year, and i am so blessed it was found in time. It is completely gone now! Yay!!! I am also especially happy to have taken my visual art practice forward in many ways. Over the last twelve months, i have gained many new skills and techniques with my work. I don't post all of them on my page, because i get bouts of needing a break from Facebook and Instagram in general. I honestly can't keep up with all that is on offer in social media, so i choose to just do what i can and keep things simple for now. Having reached the stage where i have enough art stock (work that is finished, framed and available) to enable me to have a booth in a pop-up shop is an achievement i was hoping for, and i did it. A big bonus is that people are buying my work. I have sold approximately 12 pieces in the last month and have 2 commissions in production. It is a very happy feeling. I have just completed 2 years as Facebook Co-Ordinator for Armadale Society of Artists which has bought me a wealth of knowledge and information gained from other aspiring artists and colleagues. I have a lot to be grateful for, my children are happy and healthy, i have a wonderful supportive husband, and some wonderful close friends who are always there for me. Thank you for all your support, likes, loves, comments and for letting me know you are there :D Stay safe, Be happy, <3 <3 <3 Deb X
