25.01.2022 Saturday, May 29 - Drug offence On Saturday afternoon Police from the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad have intercepted and searched a vehicle in Hughenden. A 29-year-old Hughenden man was subsequently charged with one count of Possess Dangerous Drug after Police located an alleged quantity of methylamphetamine. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear before Hughenden Magistrates Court at a later date.



25.01.2022 On Tuesday the 25/5/21 workers located a item behind the Hughenden Police Station and Court House. The item was identified as a WW2 36M hand grenade. The grenade was sand bagged and the area closed to vehicles and pedestrians. On Thursday the 27/5/21 officers from Explosive Ordinance Support team out of RAAF Base Townsville arrived. They removed the device to safe spot in the Flinders River where it was detonated.

Snr Constable Graeme thought he'd struck it rich with his detector at the lake, only to find the elusive missing engagement ring advertised on the local notices page. The ring has been returned to the owner and Graeme was relieved, as it wasn't his size Thank you Snr Constable Graeme!!

20.01.2022 Hughenden Police would like to warn local residents of a current scam occurring with several of our residents victimised already. The scam involves a person calling you claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office or possibly another government agency before making threats that due to owed money or fraud offences you will be arrested or a warrant issued unless you follow their instructions. The instructions may vary but can include providing bank details, taxation de...tails, other personal details, or request the purchase of gift cards before providing the card numbers and PINs as payment. The scammer may use the caller ID of a legitimate government agency, a company, or a person. In one recent report the scammer has faked their caller ID to appear as the Hughenden Police Station phone number. Police would like to remind all residents that we never make arrests or execute warrants over the phone and phone calls from Police will always show with a private caller ID. If you receive a similar call please do not provide any details over the phone. 19.01.2022 Trespass and Wilful Damage arrest Friday, August 7 On Friday afternoon Police arrested a 14 year old male juvenile in relation to trespassing at a local school. Police also arrested the juvenile in relation to his involvement in two outstanding wilful damage matters at a local school and business occurring on the 25th of July. The juvenile was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.



18.01.2022 Things to remember when using recreation watercraft on the Hughenden Lake A Qld TMR boat licence is required to operate a recreation boat with a motor bigger than 6hp. A Qld TMR boat licence and jetski licence is required to operate a jetski. Children can only sit on a jetski behind the driver not in front. Passengers on jetski must be able to place both feet at the same time on footwells... It’s compulsory to wear life jackets when riding a jetski, waterskiing or tubing or anyone under 12yrs riding in a boat thats less than 4.8m long. Life jackets must be a ‘Level 50 special purpose’ for smooth water. Operators of recreation watercraft must have an alcohol limit less than .05. See more

18.01.2022 Day for Daniel! A big thank you to Constable Harm for his great efforts decorating our front counter, it looks fantastic! Yesterday, Officers Harm and Graeme visited St. Francis Catholic School and spoke to the children on Children's Safety and Strangers. Today, Harm is out and about visiting our surrounding schools of Prairie and Cameron Downs and Hughenden State School. Stay tuned for more photos of his adventures!

15.01.2022 Hughenden crime wrap, Tuesday, July 28 During the midday hours of Monday the 27th of July Police attended a Hughenden residence in relation to a civil dispute. Police subsequently arrested a 59 year old male with no fixed residence, for 2 outstanding Arrest Warrants in relation to 2 charges of Serious Assault person over 60. During the evening hours of Saturday the 25th of July Police attended a Hughenden residence in relation to an injured juvenile. After conducting in...quiries Police commenced investigations into the Wilful Damage of a local school and another local business. Investigations are currently ongoing. During the evening hours of Thursday the 23rd of July Police attended a Hughenden residence in relation to a domestic disturbance. Police subsequently arrested and charged a 30 year old Charters Towers man with Contravening a Domestic Violence Order.

10.01.2022 Traffic Operation Hughenden - Wednesday, August 5 Hughenden, Richmond and Pentland Police conducted a joint traffic operation leading to: A 35 year old Hughenden woman being charged with one count of Driving over the general alcohol limit and one count of Assault Police. A 58 year old Hughenden man being charged with one count of Driving with relevant drug in saliva.... A 33 year old Richmond man being charged with one count of Driving with relevant drug in saliva and one count of Unlicensed driving - demerit point suspension. 09.01.2022 Hughenden Police would like to issue a timely reminder for motorists to heed caution to time of day and type of vehicle when travelling. Emergency services attended a traffic incident at approximately 2.30am on Tuesday morning. The 33 male driver was lucky to escape any serious injuries after the Nissan Micra he was driving collided with a pig causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a tree off-road.

06.01.2022 Friday afternoon Police conducted a welfare check on a 41yr old man sitting in a vehicle on Moran Street. After a RBT and a further testing he was charged with high-range drink driving. On Friday evening Police intercepted a vehicle on Resolution Street driven by a 21yr old. After a RBT and further testing the driver was charged with mid-range drink driving. On Sunday afternoon a man was charged with disqualified driving. All men will appear before Hughenden Magistrates Court on a later date.

05.01.2022 Day for Daniel was celebrated in Hughenden last week and our Officers Harm and Graeme did a great job visiting the local and surrounding schools. We thank our school community and Officers for their dedication to the safety of our children in our town.

04.01.2022 Yesterday Constables Harm and Koray gave the children from Cameron Downs and Prairie State schools a tour of the Hughenden Police Station. Everyone had a great time and got to experience what it's like in the shoes of a Police Officer. Thank you to parents and teachers for arranging and Harm and Koray for their fabulous hosting!!

04.01.2022 Recently, Police received a call for a person creating a disturbance at a local business. Investigations were conducted and as a result, the person was issued with a $400 infringement notice and was subsequently banned by the business owner from the premises. This is a timely reminder to be respectful in public places.

02.01.2022 Traffic Alert The Flinders Hwy, approx 10km East of Torrens Creek, will be closed today (5th Nov) from 4pm for approximately 2-3 hours to remove remaining hazards from the traffic incident this morning. We please ask for your patience and cooperation during this time.

02.01.2022 A timely reminder for the importance of communicating plans of travel to others. With Christmas holidays right around the corner, it’s always a good idea to let others know where you’re heading. This follows after a recent search for motorists, who were in need of assistance but were unable to call for help due to no phone service. Fortunately, from sharing their intended travel plans with family, they were located safe and without further emergency services.

02.01.2022 In the early hours this morning, a truck rollover occurred just East of Torrens Creek on the Flinders Highway, thankfully the driver did not suffer any serious injuries. Police would like to thank the Qld Fire & Rescue team and the Flinders Shire Council for their prompt action in clearing the hazard from the road. A timely reminder for road users of the dangers of Driver Fatigue.
