25.01.2022 Throughout NAIDOC Week our Centre has been collecting items to create care packages to send to Star of the Sea on Thursday Island, which is a nursing home for the Elders. The children have also created some tie dyed face washers and hand towels to add to the packages. We will continue to collect items for these packages over the next week and thank our families for their kind donations.... One of our wonderful Educators Aleysha is heading home to Thursday Island for a visit soon and will deliver the packages.

25.01.2022 At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. Today My School will acknowledge this special day through a minutes silence at 11am.

23.01.2022 Throughout NAIDOC Week the My School children have been creating a very special art work. We utilised some of the features of this years NAIDOC artwork 'Shape of Land' by Noongar and Saibai Islander man Tyrown Waigana. Each room contributed to painting an area of the canvas and the children are very proud of their work.... Our canvas will displayed in our foyer and we can not wait to share it with all our families and friends.

20.01.2022 At My School having a consistent teaching team is important to us. This allow our Educators to build strong relationships with our children and families. Our Educators ensure that all interactions and warm, caring and responsive allowing children to feel a sense of security, wellbeing and belonging. We currently have limited vacancies for 2021 so if you want your child to be a part of the My School family get in touch with us or call in for a visit.

19.01.2022 Our Nursery team creates environments for our children that are intentional and purposeful. These spaces encourage children's communication and foster relationships while filling children with wonder. Our children are able to investigate and explore while feeling secure and a sense of belonging.

17.01.2022 The My School Kindergarten children were very lucky to be invited to the Bravehearts, Ditto Show today at Slade Point State School. We learnt lots about keeping ourselves safe, good feelings and bad feelings and that it is ok to say 'No' if we feel uncomfortable and we it is ok to tell someone if we feel like this. My School is very lucky to have a close relationship with Slade Point State School and this allows us the opportunity to provide experiences such as this for our children.

13.01.2022 This week My School has been celebrating NAIDOC Week 2020. This years theme Always Was, Always Will Be, recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Throughout the week the children and Educators at My School have explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through hands on activities, experiences, music, cooking and stories.
