22.01.2022 Meet baby Xavier and his beautiful family! When his mum contacted me and told me about his condition my heart shattered in thousands of pieces for him and his family. Having a family member myself with a health condition that impacts life is what makes me feel connected to them. Xavier was diagnosed on the newborn screener test with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Something that his family never heard of before. He has begun treatment in the hopes of staying presymptomatic. With onl...y 4 years of data from this treatment it is all really unknown as what might happen. Emily, his mum said, they have hope that he will reach some, if not all, his milestones and live a happy life with them full of memories. With Xavier just turned 3 months old they opted in for a newborn in-home session and we spent about 3 hours together in their beautiful home chatting along, connecting, playing and even shedding some tears together. Such an honour to be invited to capture these memories for this gorgeous family! 21.01.2022 It's Christmas Eve! A day that brings back childhood memories for sure. Every year in the late afternoon I had to stay with my sisters in our room until we hear that little bell ring. When entering the living room the Christmas tree was up shining at it's best and not to forget the wrapped gifts that were underneath. Yes, that's right our Christmas tree wasn't up until Christmas eve. Instead we had a Christmas wreath with 4 candles counting down the Advent Sundays until Chris...tmas. Coming to Australia in 2008 we quickly learnt it was quite a challenge to organise a tree (real or fake) a few days before Christmas eve it all had to be organised around the beginning of December. 21.01.2022 GOOD BYE 2020!! Like many of you I am still getting my head around this whole year. It came with a lot of challenges like home-schooling, zoom meetings, online meditation, online learning, basically everything online but also came with equally positive things. While I was without work for 2.5 months after closing down my business and having to stop my job in the studio I have learned to appreciate the time with my family. Slowing down didn't mean getting bored or missing out... on things. In fact I enjoyed the time out and took the opportunity to view my life from a different perspective, getting creative, trying out things in a different way and lot's of cooking and baking! * During lockdown all my families waited patiently for me. Once I was able to be back at work I captured their memories just a little delayed. And it was beautiful! Each session was joyful and meaningful. A big thank you to my beautiful new and returning families for your support. This means the world to me * A few months after the lockdown I realised I was running my business solo the very first time without another job alongside. And it was the best feeling! I have learned to keep going even if your are not sure if you do things the right way. Keep pushing and keep your head up! It will be rewarding one day! * Thank you to my wonderful husband who supported me and pushed me further with every single critism and meaningful opinion. And to our special girl who inspires me with every day. Please never ever stop inspiring me!! * This pandemic is still hanging on a little... hopefully for not too long! Meaning we aren't able to go overseas to see our loved ones for a while but I am not too scared about the new year. 17.01.2022 Yesterday's inhome session was absolutely gorgeous! I felt so inspired by the family. Their story, their love for each other, the wonderful chats we had, the little tears we shed together... all while I was documenting them in their lovely home. This makes my job so meaningful. Being present, making memories for them when they are most comfortable and connect to them I am off to meet another newborn this morning. Have a wonderful day lovely people. As a small business owner I believe it's important for clients to be able to get to know their photographer a little beforehand. What are the things you are looking for when searching for the right photographer? For me it's the connection, trust and feeling super comfortable with each other. Getting photos taken can be qui...te daunting. You may feel awkward, not knowing what to expect and so on. It's not just about getting the photos done and delivered. It's more than that. It's about your story, the raw connection, the unique moments, the new chapter in your life.... all this captured for you to look back and remember. I have meet so many beautiful families over the last years and some have even become good friends. Creating a relaxed and enjoyable experience where you feel most comfortable at your session is so important. 01.01.2022 Why I do all my outdoor sessions about 1.5 hour before sunset? You just can’t replicate that golden light in the middle of the day! And yesthat means in summer we won’t start until 6.30pm and yes I know it’s the kids bed time. If possible, maybe have a quiet afternoon to let the kids have a bit of a rest before the session. A photo shoot is not something that we do every day. Kids can get pretty excited to be able to stay up a bit late ;) So make it special. Once you have b...ooked in with me I will provide you with some great tips how to get prepared for your shoot. So it will be most enjoyable for you and your family. Are your kids early risers and you think a sunrise session would be the better option? I am definitely up for a sunrise session if you are.
