17.01.2022 As the year wraps up, our three Gap Year students would like to share their reflection on their time at the College this year. Our first is from, Miss Kate Ovens. Reflecting on my position as the 2020 Health and Physical Education Gap Year Student, I can honestly say it has been one of my most rewarding experiences. Within the role, I have had the opportunity to experience working with a great group of teachers, students from the Learning Support HUB, assisting with organis...ation of Carnivals, as well as assisting many Nagle students during PE and Health lessons. The highlight, however, of this position was the opportunity to go on many camps, such as visiting Little Bay and climbing the sand dune, trekking through the Kalbarri Gorges, cheering students at ACC Athletic, Swimming and Triathlon Carnivals and blasting tunes on the way to Gladstone Bay. From these adventures, I gained many new life skills including developing the confidence to drive the Great Wall manual ute, the ability to tow kayaks without getting bogged on the beach, as well as how to fix soccer goal nets. Throughout this year I have been presented with many challenges such as remote learning and additional cleaning duties due to COVID-19, and at times, a very heavy workload. This has made me very appreciative of the support networks that exist at Nagle, not only for staff but for students as well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Mischa Westlake and the whole HPE Department for making this a memorable year and I thank you for your friendship. I would also like to thank Mrs Jo Clune and her amazing Learning Support Department for making me feel a part of your team, and lastly I would like to thank the fantastic Maintenance Department for always giving me a helping hand and teaching me some valuable life skills. I have learnt many things that I will take with me for my future studies and am extremely grateful for the special relationships I have built with the awesome students of Nagle and I will miss seeing them each day. For any students considering a Gap Year position at Nagle, I would thoroughly recommend this as a wonderful learning opportunity that provides a safe and welcoming environment for you as you begin adulthood. I wish Kayley King all the best for next year as I pass her the HPE Gappy Baton for 2021. We wish Kate all the best for next year.

16.01.2022 What a year in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) world! 2020 has had it all - bushfires, floods and of course COVID-19! There certainly has not been a shortage of current events to discuss. This Term, students were invited to share their views on these events through various competitions. The judging was very difficult with the number of impressive entries received. Well done to the winners: Y7 and Y8 Comic Strip competition: Emily (Y7) Y9 and Y10 Political Cartoo...n: Isla (Y9) Photo competition: Frauke (Y8) The winners each received $100 and will be featured in this year’s Annual, where future generations can read and gain insight into what this year has been like for all of us.

13.01.2022 Tonight’s the night! After many months of preparation, we are very excited for the opening night of 67 Cinderellas, our Lower School production. The students will be performing in front of three sold out shows in our Drama Studio. Earlier this week, Mr Neil Gregson and cast members, spoke with Todd at Triple M Geraldton about the play and their experience. Our students have the opportunity to be involved in all facets of producing a production, this can include roles such as Assistant Director, Stage Manager, or assisting with sound and lighting, costumes and media and promotion. The interview is available on our website: www.ncc.wa.edu.au/nagle-news.html. Good luck to everyone involved in the production! #nagleccproduction

09.01.2022 At the Student Leadership Council (SLC) Induction Day, our newly elected student leaders, along with our 2021 Heads of House and staff, participated in a number of group activities designed to assist the group with further developing their leadership skills. The student led practical activities that could be used with House meetings, and received feedback from their peers and staff as to what worked well and what could be improved. They were challenged to be aware of the perspective of others through the ‘Blocked Perspective’ activity where they had to communicate without speaking in order to complete a group task. Another important learning from the day for the students was understanding the importance of having a growth mindset when working with others, and discovering their preferred leadership styles. #classof2021 #naglecc #geraldton
