13.01.2022 Sharing from Tijuana cartel. Very stoked for these legends, and very proud of them. Such a dream to work with! Earlier this year we won 'Live Act of the Year' at the Gold Coast Music Awards (THANK YOU!!) Due to that COVID bitch, we couldn't walk the red carpet, drink tequila, play live, and hang with our Goldie music mates. ... Finally last week, we got our hands on this rad award! A little less tequila than originally planned, but very very stoked and proud to have been awarded this! Thank you to everyone who listens to Aussie music, comes to shows, and spread the word. It means more to us this year than ever before

06.01.2022 Ok friends! Need ya help here! Many of you know me as the person who ran this super rad music/arts/cultural hub The Rhythm Hutt for like 6 years or so until 2018. I’ve booked some of the most amazing local, national and international acts that have come through. Including Nattali Rize, Uncle Archie Roach, Ziggy Alberts, Kim Churchill, Mike Love, Bobby Alu, Steve Smyth, Nathan Cavaleri, Katchafire, DUSTIN THOMAS, Daniel Champagne, Benny Walker, Afenginn, Tijuana cartel, Wild M...armalade, Nicky Bomba, Tubby Love and Amber Lily and so many more I can’t even think of right now. As COVID hit, I’m struggling to keep my own music business alive, and at the same time give back to my community in ways I can. Ways that allow me time wise, mentally and emotionally. This is a really great way to help a local grassroots arts space, help keeping live music alive! It may not seem like a lot of money (and it's not), but after 5 months closed, and now very limited classes and audiences at shows - this money is desperately needed for rent! No sign ups, just click on the triangle to vote for The Hut. You can vote every hour per IP address (hint: vote on wifi and data for double votes) It’s close, and we need the help. Voting open till end of month. So please help share and spread the word <3

03.01.2022 I've had more than a few conversations recently which have gone a little like this "Hey man, you must be feeling pretty good about live music coming back after ...a tough 12 months! I can understand why these conversations are had, the rhetoric in the media is indeed that live music is back to normal, venue capacities are all good, people are out dancing having fun & bands, crews, managers, agents to name a very small few after an absolutely brutal 12 months are absolutely fine. Unfortunately, even though there might be 500 people slapping the walls at a packed club in chapel street four times a week, it couldn't be further from the truth that we are back to normal and... to be honest seeing 50,000-90,000 people heading along to the football week in week out is a huge kick in the teeth. One example of the disparity between music and sports is Yours & Owls festival on the weekend, $1 million extra spent making their festival covid compliant and still bands being told their sets would be shut down if people leave their seats or spread out and dance too much in a fully outdoor setting, in a state that has no local covid cases. Another example is being a a few weeks out from key music festivals not knowing if the festival will actually get approval or not from the state government authorities. These are festivals with 100 page covid plans (all of which costs a huge amount of money) and at huge festival sites where there is no doubt in my mind crowd members would be spread out further than the shoulder to shoulder rickety seats of the MCG. Because of these festivals having to go through this huge amount of red tape the bands are stuck in a holding pattern, should we book crew, should we book flights, should we book accommodation? Already small profit margins are reduced each week we don't get answers as flights become more expensive, hire cars get booked out and uncertainty leaves planning confusing to say the very least. I can't even imagine what the festival organisers are going through. It truly made me scratch my head seeing the prime minister of Australia head down and praising an AFL match with 50,000 people attending with little to no changes in "covid safety" - you know, the tens of thousands of people heading to the game in packed public transport, mingling in bar lines, using the same entry gates but yet we hear time and time again from state & federal governments "Yeah well singing and dancing spreads covid easier". What is the actual justification here? What is the difference between Joffa and his mates at a Collingwood game shouting, screaming, pumping their fists in the air? Do the COVID pathogens just say to themselves "nah not today mates, id rather not go and hang out at the AFL but wow that music festival sure does look tasty". So we have these crowds of 50,000 hailed by politicians around the country as GREAT successes while music festivals are needing to "prove" themselves before getting the green light. Are AFL Players threatened with a sports version of a "Show stop" if the crowd gets too rowdy? Stop playing until the cheer squad spreads out? At a music festival if the crowd isn't spread out, authorities will stop the music, i've seen it happen, and we are having conversations about this happening in future music festivals.. The double standards are infuriating. Are there any stats that suggest an outdoor music festival of 5,000 people are any less safe than a 50,000 person AFL match in a state with zero covid cases? I would really love to see them because as far as i'm concerned no media has questioned the state governments on this and while there are good intentions behind the statement "must feel good getting back to normal" it is unfortunately missing the mark completely and with no job seeker any more it absolutely hurts thinking about my industry colleagues suffering because of this red tape. I'm not even sure what my goal with this status is, potentially to get people to realise even though it looks all good - it isn't all good and don't get me started on the delayed vaccine roll out. Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
