24.01.2022 Please remember our fallen

21.01.2022 We understand everyone’s frustrations at this time, with many restrictions limiting what individuals, families and businesses can do right now. The current orde...rs as outlined by the NSW Premier and the NSW Health Minister state that a person MUST have a REASONABLE EXCUSE to leave their home at this time. These rules are in place to protect millions of people across the state. Holidays and travel are NOT ESSENTIAL. We appreciate the pressures many businesses in the tourism industry are facing holiday rentals, licensed hotels and accommodation providers, caravan parks, tourism operators under the current NSW Public Health Act (2010) regulations, we cannot be encouraging people to visit our popular locations and destinations. The safest thing every person in the state can do right now is STAY PUT. As operators in this space, we are urging you to work with us as we all need to work together to spread this message unfortunately at the moment, we cannot be pleading with the public to visit areas like Port Macquarie, South West Rocks, Crescent Head and Scotts Head. All of these rules are in place to protect the health and safety of not just travellers, but residents in these smaller communities. An influx of visitors could put their health systems under pressure, whilst potentially transferring the virus from one part of the state to another. This is also relevant to the thousands of visitors and backpackers that are currently in NSW. We cannot have additional persons migrating to parts of the North Coast, the safest thing at the moment is to STAY WHERE YOU ARE. Do not decide that now is the time to get in your van and head towards the border. The risks greatly outweigh the benefits, and it is now law to STAY PUT. This is about everyone’s actions everyone has to band together to slow the spread of COVID-19. Every industry, every family, every person. If you have a holiday booked in for this Easter/school holiday break cancel it. If you are an accommodation operator you need to tell the public that visitors aren’t welcome. We know this is hard, especially after the heartbreaking bushfire season and ongoing drought impacting many of our holiday destinations. But this is something every person has to do everyone needs to do their part. -- A message from Assistant Commissioner Max Mitchell APM Northern Region Commander--

17.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 OUTBREAK. Council have advised us that the Visitor Information Centre will close as of Monday. The NVTA will park our information trailer at the centre car park to continue giving our tourist the information that need. This will be unmanned in accordance with councils COViD-19 policy. The NVTA is strong in our resolve to keep our tourists informed of our beautiful area. Maybe it’s the best place to quarantine yourself

16.01.2022 BOWRAVILLE CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND The wonderful inclusive Bowraville Children’s Playground is now completed and with the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions is available for everyone to enjoy. The playground has some wonderful innovative play equipment and the surrounding sports and recreational precinct at Hennessey Tape Oval in Bowraville now offers a revitalized skate park, a BMX track, BBQ’s and picnic shelters, connecting pathways, and basketball/netball courts as part of th...e conversion of the existing tennis courts. The projects have been developed with input from the community, and the previously developed Bowraville Connections Concept Plan, and grant funding from the NSW Government under several programs including Stronger Country Communities Fund Rounds 1 and 2, Everyone Can Play Program, and the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund. Council has received many letters of support and thanks, and we do appreciate all feedback from the community. An extract from a letter of thanks from the Bowraville Community Preschool acknowledges Council’s commitment to delivery of excellent community infrastructure with the support of grant funding and community input: Firstly, thank you. Thank you for acknowledging the need for such a space for the children of Bowraville Community and surrounds. Thank you for listening to the needs and desires of the Community and for taking their ideas forward into the design process. Thank you for a playground design that is beyond belief. It is known, by many, as the BEST Playground around. On behalf of the Community, thank you for giving everyone a space they can be proud of, and area that brings a smile to all those who enter the gates (regardless of their age).

04.01.2022 We would like to let all our friends and associates know that the Nambucca Valley Tourism Association have put in an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST to the Nambucca Valley Shire Council, for the lease of the Information Centre. As local businesses, we are on the coal face of tourism. We feel our knowledge and experience would be a great asset for our local tourism industry. We have formed a business plan and will be calling for our very knowledgeable Volunteers to help us re-engage our industry, especially after our local fire tragedy in our Valley. You can show your support on this post, for the Nambucca Valley Tourism Association, by getting behind us and sending us messages of support that can be added to our submission.

04.01.2022 Macksville Bridge Lighting Project - Temporary changes to traffic arrangements may create delays. ‘Brightening our Future by Highlighting our Heritage’ The Li...ghting of Macksville Bridge Project works are commencing on Tuesday, 9 June 2020 and will continue for approximately 2 weeks. The Council project supported by funding from the NSW Government’s Heritage Near Program will be architecturally lighting Macksville’s most prominent landmarks, the old Pacific Highway bridge. Since its opening in 1931, the Macksville Bridge has been a landmark urban feature within the Nambucca Valley, and for any person travelling up or down the east coast of NSW. An objective of this project is to create an even more memorable landmark through embellishments to the bridge that highlight its structural form and character and provide historic relevance to the feature through interpretive information. The project, which was supported by Council's Business Advisory Committee, is one of several projects completed, or presently being undertaken in the Macksville Town Centre to support the town post bypass such as the Verendah post re-instatements, murals and improvements in Dawkins Park. As we come through this period of unprecedented social and economic impacts to the Valley the project will assist in creating interest in Macksville as a regional destination worth a visit and for some, a place to live. Whilst the project presents a number of positive opportunities for the town, we do expect it to create temporary short term impacts to traffic during works. These are noted as follows: Commencement Date: Tuesday, 9 June 2020 Duration of Works: 2 weeks Working Hours: 9.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday Impact to Traffic: SIGNIFICANT to all traffic leaving the CBD during working hours, minimal to traffic entering the CBD Traffic Control: Traffic Control will be in place from 9.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Fridays: FERRY STREET - NO RIGHT TURN RIVER STREET, WALLACE STREET NO LEFT TURN PARTRIDGE STREET RIGHT TURN ALLOWED WINIFRED STREET - LEFT TURN ALLOWED We thank you for your patience as we deliver this project for the community.

01.01.2022 A message from the President of the Nambucca Valley Tourism Association I would like to send a shout out to all those people who have had to cancel coming to our valley. I appreciate that the COVID-19 virus will knock our way of life around and I’m sure our accomodation services will be happy to assist you. As of now all caravan parks and camping grounds have been forced to closed to all nonessential travel patrons. Our Cafes and restaurants are for takeaway only. This wil...l also have an effect on our local economy as our businesses who rely on this time will not receive there normal Easter income that gets them through the winter. Most of our local cleaning staff and ground staff have been stood down. Our locals have seen suffering with drought, fires, flooding and now this virus. If I can ask one thing from all our visitors to our valley. When this crisis is over and we can travel this beautiful wide country, please come and take in our beautiful valley. Forget overseas and ships. Visit your own country and rebuild our economy. Locals for locals Thank you all Glen Heaton
