19.01.2022 A new bush stimulus package will be announced today! It's being delivered by the Federal Government. We'll keep you updated with the details during the day. Here's what we know:... $1 billion in concessional loans for small businesses (19 employees or less) or are dependant on agriculture. They'll be eligible for concessional loans of up to $500,000, with a two-year interest-free period, with interest-only repayments in years three to five. Money for councils under the Drought Communities Program to fast-track projects to create jobs and stimulate spending. $200 million from the of Building Better Regions Fund will be redirected to create a special drought round of funding providing up to $10 million for projects in regional areas. $140 million to drought declared councils for road upgrades and maintenance.

07.01.2022 A big THANK YOU to all the NSW Rural Fire Service crews battling bushfires and protecting communities. Sadly, we know of two lives have been lost near Glen Innes, and another five people are still missing tonight. There are reports of 12 to 14 dwellings, including homes... lost in the Stockyard Flat blaze, which has burnt out more than 62,000 hectares of land near Yarrowitch. Walcha Council has established a community donation and support post for residents impacted by the bushfire crisis. The donation centre can be found at the Multi Purpose Centre at Walcha Central School, 110 Angle St, Walcha. It will be open and staffed by volunteers between 10 am and 5 pm Sunday, November 10 and from 8:30 Monday, November 11. Walcha Mayor, Eric Noakes says, while the extent of the damage is still not clear, our hearts go out to anyone impacted by the bushfire situation. We’re grateful to the RFS crews and emergency services who have responded to this horrific fire." All donations will be used to support community members who have lost their homes or been displaced due to the fires. Residents impacted by the fires will be able to visit the post to collect items they need. Information regarding temporary accommodation, meals and support services can also be sourced here.
